Looks good Jeff. I hope I get to see it tonight when I come pick up the passat.

what digital dash setup are you planning on using? that will be needed to be sure the CAN interface will work. Almost all standalones have the CAN or a similar easy hook up for digital dashes these days, you just have to make sure they have the software to work with each other

on the rod ends, are you asking about the taper for the stock tie rods mount to the spindle? There are a bunch of companies that make a bushing to replace the stock location to the underside of the spindle mount, relocating the tie rod helps to improve bump steer and when coupled with a ball joint spacer can correct the ill effects of lowering. The spherical set I got from SCCH also replace the tapered stock mount with a bushing that is straight through, maybe hit up jerod and see if he'd just sell you a set?

If you are adding a heim joint as a tie rod why does it need to be tapered? Why can't you just drill it out and size the heim accordingly?
roughly 0.0507 on the rusty spindle in front of me....

I was planning on using the MXL strada Dash However the LINK is NOT on the list
BUT i do see the Autronic... and thats just dated LINK technology
SO I sent an email and I assume the support is there and its just NOT on the list

      YES
ADJUSTABLE tie rod ends < I was shootn for the use of this....
Now that i have found a few different part#s on McMastercarr.......
IDK if its even worth messing OR just punch it thru hole and ditch the taper

The G60 spindle has a bit more taper then the MK1 does
      Look @ the link above
It has a tapered end to it
      And allows adjustability
Just dont know if it will clear 15" wheels

Was looking at Vr knucks. But in that case Ta=0.5×(le-se)/L. Le being the wide end se being the short end L being the length of the hole. Standard measurements.
Must not be following the adjustability aspect of the g60 tie rod end. Is it eccentric or something? Elaborate more on this added adjustability.

They have tapered ends AND thru hole
I was going to try and keep the taper in the knuckle
BUT @ this rate Ill just drill thru holes and conventional stud/bolt it...

Misread that there was something special about the g60 tie rod ends. I had never heard that before and really wanted to know what made them so special. My bad. The taper would be nice but it'll work either way... get some seals-it grommets for them either way and tapered spacers top and bottom and you'll be good. Now get back to work I wanna see 4 wheel peel asap.

I run the 01C actually, but with the latest firmware. I am running an 06A block with an AEB 20V head, rev to 8800RPM all day. I am on a PT6262 turbo and boost has just been tuned to 38lbs. About 630Whp. I would recommend the 02C for the added ignition timing control and additional GPOs for street cars.

I am envious of your project and want to do the same thing to my rabbit so please post lots of pics.

I pressed in X4 NEW wheel bearings this week
      Nothing pic worthy

      Todays plan:
I have yard work to do for a bit this AM
Then the FT strut towers/strut mounts get out
in prep for the camber plates that will b welded in
Ill have some pics of that process

I might even get the "A" pillar and halo hoops on the cage fully welded in this weekend
