Has anyone recenty gotten these? I've gone to auto zone and pep boys and all the archived topics with part numbers are no longer valid. Anyone? Help

go to the junk yard and take the rear struts from a MKII or MKIII hatch. Unscrew and take the mount balls too. (13mm wrench)

This is quite simple.. Take hatch strut and the 2 mount balls. All you need to obtain is 1 nut which will screw onto 1 of the the mount balls.
Pop your hood.. See the little rubber supports running along your fender screws? pull one out from which ever side you decide to use.. Once it is out, you can see how there is a tiny gap underneath where it was. You can now slide your 1 obtained nut into that space and screw in your ball mount (I grinded down the legnth of the threads)
remove the hood bolt which it reaches and the ball mount screws right in. Took my 15min total using a DIY with no pics and poor grammar/bad terminology.

the mount balls do not unscrew the are flat on the other side i got the entire bracket

eBay sells everything you need for like $20. Just type in "vw mk3 hood lift".

They have to. I know it doesn't say it, but I would find that really hard to believe
