its a great device
not perfect by any means but it has some really slick features and if it ends up that ANDROID is easy to port into it, we stole these things!...lol

Didn't have much time to play around with it last night but I'm already loving it!
EDIT: My friend had originally set it up for his account so the HP webOS Account is under his E-mail address. I got a confirmation E-mail about changing the E-mail address and clicked the link to confirm. Under accounts under the HP webOS Account it shows my name but when I select that it prompts me to enter my password and shows his E-mail address.
I did some reading and came across some artices stating that I would need to do a full reset but don't want to do that unless it is absolutely necessary as he installed a few hacks on the tablet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.![]()

I loaded mine up with Top Gear season 17 for my flight back and forth to SanFran. One thing I do have trouble with is getting to connect and stay connected to my WiFi at home. All of my other devices don't have an issue, just the TouchPad. Any ideas?
#42
hmm my wifi is super stable on it
better than my IPAD2 at work

I haven't had any issues staying connected at all either.
#44
No problems with wifi here either. Battery life has been good so far, after watching 2 1/2 movies on a flight from jfk to lax I still had 43% left.
#45
i find "in use" battery life better than my IPAD2 for work
standby on both is phenominal though

I've had mine a few weeks and I dislike it quite a bit (yes all the tweaks and OC are done). I'm going to hold out for the android distribution, but if that isn't significant better, I'm selling it. It's a mediocre tablet even at 170 shipped for the 32gb with webOS. Playing with my ipad2 after the tp is like a breath of fresh air. It is ridiculous that nobody can get their crap together enough to come up with a UI that actually competes against apple. I'm not an apple fanboy and this fact annoys me. Competition is good for everybody.

I agree with this. the TP is an OK deal at $170 for the 32GB.
am i glad i got it...yes, but only because it seems the cyanogenMod team is getting close to a release. if it wasn't close, i would have much rather spent $200 on the kindle fire.
as for the UI, i think Honeycomb is a really nice tablet OS, however it still needs to be tweaked and optimized more for a smoother experience.
i still hate iOS on that large of a screen....but it is just so smooth and fast that it really doesn't matter. i think the TP with cyanogenMod on it, will be pretty amazing. Plus with IceCreamSandwich coming soon, the TP should be on a tablet optimized OS fairly shortly after its source is released.

Hi
i do not seem to have much proble as it does not affect your speed. If it affect speed then we should think for a solution. But hp ipad is the best.

webOS 3.04 is now available for download.

Really!
is it easy to do?

Can you follow directions? If so, it's VERY easy.

I just got a 16GB one from a friend of mine. Haven't had much of a chance to really play with it just yet but so far so good. The only thing (so far) that I'm missing is .doc or .docx support.
*edit - Jokes on me. For whatever reason I was having issues opening documents before but that seems to be working now.

its pretty simple. once the programs and the ROM is downloaded it took maybe 5-10 minutes to get CM7 to boot. first time i did anything like this as well and it was easy as cake.
i have rooted/ROM'd many android phones, but installing android on a device not meant to run it is something i have never done before.....seemed too easy to do almost...lol
read more if you are interested. also, i found the install instructions on this post a little difficult to follow along (as it is in a "read me" file)
my only tip is to download and install novacom first
download the ACMEinstaller.zip and extract the installer only (not the readme file) to the novacom folder.
after that, the readme file should get you through the install just fine.

What's the best walk through on doing this? I have mine all restored and am ready to do this.
Also... saw a deal on Slickdeals today for a case for $9.99 with free shipping. I picked one up myself. Clicky clicky!

couldn't imagine one without the case!
Kids love the programs on it, and I'm not afraid to let them go to town on it, especially for the price.
You can prop it up with the case, which is really awesome!

just busted my touchpad out, I'm going to SanFran next week for work and I'm going to load it up with Top Gears so I have something to watch on the plane. When I get back I'll fuss around with putting android on it.
edit: funny when you read back, I posted the same damn thing from when I went to my HQ the first time. man, am I predictable.

anyone know where i can get replacement glass for the touchpad? my ex was bothering me at work a while back and it slid off the desk and landed glass-side down on the floor.the digitizer still works fine, just need new glass. i'll do it myself if i have to.
i do really like it though, until the screen shattered i used it alot. i still do from time to time, it just is annoying trying to avoid the cracks..they're pretty damn sharp. without using it much though, it can stay on standby, with bluetooth and wifi off, for at least 2 weeks..if not 3. the govnah!/uberkernel has bumped the clock speed to 1.728 ghz. now that there's a pretty stable android build i might get around to putting that on

CM9/ICS is an amazing improvement over gingerbread even in alpha form. I love playing with my TP now. The difference is incredible. It is extremely smooth, and stable. I don't use it for much other than surfing the web, but once they get everything nailed down, the average TP user should definitely make the jump. I think the user experience is better than any honeycomb tablet I've used, and near the ipad's.

I got bored and upgraded to CM9 today. Night and day. Real browser, tons of apps. I actually love it now. I was previously just counting down the days until iPad for residency. Now I like it. And I re-overclocked it to 1.8, rums great. On android its a fantastic piece of kit. Google browser is great, now there's Netflix too. All for $99 too.

Finally got off my ass and flashed CM9 today. I can totally see myself using this thing daily again.
