I've just been interested in how to get a cam sensor as I am not running a dizzy, there is an interesting read in the 16v forum

Got some black paint, waiting for some warmer weather. Past couple weeks have been in the 30s up here.

I have an aluminum fitting for the valve cover, but suck at welding aluminum. So once we get the car down to my fabricator he is going to remove the valve cover and weld on the fitting for a vent tube to go to a catch can.

The dizzy was the original plan for the "daily driver" when i was staying digi 1. Now I am going VEMS with a block off plate and bosch coil packs. Which is all ordered and on the way, should have it this week. I'll be sure to post pictures...

I have totally over looked this, but as soon as I do a little research and figure out what I'm going to do I'll be sure to let you know. Two fold, I'll be loooking for your opinion on the solution

to the paint and feel ya on weather, it was the humidity that set me back here...

There is a pic of a VR pickup sensor in the vid REPOMAN posted and someone posted a link of an aftermarket trigger setup to mount to your exhaust cam where your dizzy would be.

Honestly, my fabricator's masive tig does such a nice job. Intake manifold he made on my S4 uses the stock manifold base. Just like the SRI I bought and put on the 16vt. Has the stock 16v base and is welded onto it. Cast steal is harder to get good penetration of the cast, but aluminum has shown to weld pretty good. If I recall he said super alloy 5 works great on cast aluminum. But, like I said I suck at welding good clean aluminum stock let alone cast.

Bosch coil is what I ordered. They are what my VEMS guy runs on his 16vt. Maybe why he doesn't need a cam sensor? This part still has got me too, used to running cam positioning sensors. I put a call into him so I will let you know why it is not needed as soon as I find out.

I know if I go sequential I will definitly need a cam sensor. But spark will definitly not be sequential. Injectors would be the only thing I would consider being sequential. But prob won't.

Gotcha on the welding, maybe I just don't know a welder I would trust...

(IN MS) You don't need a cam sensor to run semi-seguential. (please keep in mind I am no pro to MS or engine tuning, getting there) From what I understand is that my injectors are firing batch at 2 squirts per engine cycle, therefore I am spraying fuel into an intake ports when 1 valve is closed. I am running wasted COP (settings) & do not know if I can go straight coil on plug being that I am still semi sequential. I would figure I am sparking and fueling on my exhaust stroke in 2 cyl's per cycle, which is an absolute waste of electrical energy, heat & time on COP, with the biggest, being direct shots of fuel, due to pooling. I may be completely off, but have read & heard that full sequential fuel and spark is the best way to go for power & economy

Economy yes, power would be the same from what I've read. My buddies 16vt was running 80 duty cycle on batch style, and 76 on sequential. So one advantage is less duty cycle, but duty cycle is not a concern for this build. Power was the same for him. Fuel mileage was "better" but he said it wasn't enough to make a noticeable difference.

I just wouldn't do spark, with running a bosch 044 coil pack. will be running wastespark. Don't really see any benefit to changing it. Other than if a coil goes bad I'm replaceing a pack and cop can replace one coil....

Busted out the old HVLP 2 bar gun. Picked up the paint for the engine bay. Going to spray base coat clear coat instead of a single stage paint. Twice as durable once cured....
