Thread: FS: 2000 APR Stage 3 New Beetle GLX 1.8t, 25k miles

  1. 08-20-2011 02:36 PM #1
It's come to be that time to sell my New Beetle. I've gotten the itch for a new project car (an Audi) and I'd like to sell it to someone who will drive it and enjoy it more than I can.

This 2000 New Beetle GLX 1.8t in Silver Arrow, was purchased new on 3/13/2000, with 16 miles on it. It currently has ~25k miles on it. This vehicle has never seen snow or even salt on the roads, as it has never been a daily driver and when not being driven -- has been stored out of the elements, in my garage, since 2003. The car looks, feels, and drives like new and is very crisp. It has never been taken to the track and has been meticulously taken care of.

The car has placed at H20 and Waterfest, when I have shown it. It has a unique assortment of mods that I have chosen that you could say are OEM plus/Euro, but with higher performance. It looks like a Turbo S New Beetle, but is in fact a 2000 GLX. I have ALL the original parts, which means the vehicle may be parted out if my desired asking price is not met.

The APR Stage 3 kit was expertly installed by Mike at BAR Tuning in Houston, Texas. The APH engine code 1.8t never had the official programming from APR, so Mike has customized the install so the car is running a GTI/Jetta/Golf ECU from the AWD 1.8t engine code. It runs excellent. The kit is known for the best driveability of any 1.8t turbo kit. Mike has probably installed more APR Stage 3 kits than anyone in the country. All service has been provided by either BAR Tuning, NGP Racing (my local shop), my local VW dealership (very early on), or myself.

I would say there are only 6 or so New Beetles with this kit installed in the country. Car has approximately 290 crank horsepower on 93 octane and 340 crank horsepower on 104 octane.

The factory bi-xenons (2004 option) was a fun modification that I installed with the guidance of the folks of PG Performance. They have the European rheostat installed in the dash (part of the dash illumination dial) for manual height adjustment.

I performed the Turbo S bumper swap with the guidance of Chris from C2 Motorsports. All parts are OEM and use all the factory connections.

The Stoptech 12.9" four piston caliper brakes are amazing and handle the Stage 3 power with ease. They are complimented by the KW Variant 2 coilover suspension (height and rebound adjustable). The wheels are of staggered fitment and are one piece RH's (Porsche fitment, 5x130). The specs are below in the mod list.

Car was essentially stock for the first 10k miles. At that time the suspension, chip, and the exhaust (I had at that time) were installed. At 15k miles, NGP installed a K04 turbo. At 17k miles the Stage 3 kit was installed. Since the kit was installed, it was driven back from Houston, to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Waterfest, and several trips to Ocean City, MD. Car is located in the suburbs of Baltimore, MD.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out (via PM or reply below). I'll reply with additional contact info. Serious inquires only. Please do not ask about parting out -- until I have come to that decision.

    UPDATED Asking price is $13,500.

Generally between 25 - 30MPG. I have spirited drives in the car (bursts of acceleration), but overall it is babied. On the way back from Houston, I averaged 32MPG on the last tank.

The kit utilizes the Audi TT 225hp fuel injectors, combined with a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator (up from 3 bar) and with a modified in tank fuel pump, also from the Audi TT 225hp model. Keeps things very OEM like, all things considered.
