i couldnt play the beta. after i dll the client it would show a patch window, then nothing. i have the game pre ordered with amazon so hopefully i get it. day of!

Yeah...don't do that dude. Its 5 dollars at gamestop, go do it...MEOW. Or just do it on amazon. No reason this day and age with a game of this magnitude why a true enthusiast shouldn't pre order. Or if you don't care about the box, buy it online and pre install it to play at midnight from Blizzard directly.

just log in and buy a digi copy. i usually want a disk for most things but having it on your battlle.net account means its never going away, looking for the account key (like i've done for L4D many times for my gf)

no waiting in lines fromt 8-12, at 12 im just going to start the download of the last bit of info go back to sleep wake up at 6 for work and see if i can log in. 99% sure the servers will be buggy for the start. if not after work ill be on enjoying the game. just have to keep off the fan sites.

i would get the digital copy but i already have a spot reserved on my shelf for the D3 box to go next to my D1, D1:Hellfire, D2 and D2:LoD boxes

i think my best option will be to pre-order at gamestop or bestbuy and pickup sometime around 8am instead of midnight. at least that way i can get a good nights sleep and still avoid the long line.

^^ if your not going to playing at midnight or from xx time you got the game to xx into the next day, i would usually pre order and just wait till the next day, get off work go to local shop pick it up go home install, enjoy.

If you try to run the client installer before May 15th it specifically says why it won't run...

Keep in mind that even if you bought a retail copy with a disk the game will be added to your battle.net account for download anytime/anywhere.

I have a friend with a 7 year old PC that was playing in the Beta. I'm sure it was a bit choppy for him, but he did it.

You can head over to the Computer Forum, or Reddit/BuildaPC and get something new for cheap.

word! i preordered last night, asked gamestop if i HAVE to pick it up that night or if i can get it the next morning and they said either one is fine. so i'll probably make that decision of 'waiting in line but getting d3' vs. 'sleeping' on the night of the release.

You have 2 days to pick up your pre-order before they can sell it to the general public. You won't lose your deposit, they will can just sell your copy being held as of that point.

i'm pretty weak. my days of gaming late at night and walking up to my bed at 5am to see the sun start to come up over the east horizon are long gone. but in a way i still can get the same amount of gaming time in as i used to. i wake up at 8am instead of noon

thats exactly what i did during the open beta weekend. some of the most relaxing mornings i've had in quite a while; waking up and playing diablo while sippin on coffee

I'll definitely play at Midnight. Taking the 15th off. But I'll probably only play for an hour or two, and then wake up at 9am and put in some real time.

This is of course assuming the servers aren't melting at 12am. If they are I'm goin to bed.

I'm off the 17th and 18th but my wife wants to go down to her parent's house on the 18th for a long weekend.

We would normally go the next weekend (Labor Day) but I guess at least by going a week early we'll avoid all the crowds and traffic on 95.

Same. I heard that the servers won't be up till midnight PST/3am EST, where I'm at. If it was a Friday, maybe, but definitely not on a weekend.

Anyways, found this on Reddit. They list a bunch of tips that weren't obvious in the beta.

One thing I didn't know was elective mode. Basically, it allows you to equip any 4 skills from any groups, rather than the standard stuff where you're stuck with one skill per group.

I've been debating taking the 15th off, I hesitate because I worry about the servers being down a lot. I might just take the afternoon off.

IIRC the Starcraft 2 launch was without issue. I got on right at midnight and didn't have any problems. So I'm hopeful that this will be a relatively smooth launch.

i agree, hopefully they got enough figured out during the open beta so they can avoid issues on the 15th. i did, however, just make the connection (thanks to someone a few posts up mentioning it) that the servers are going live at midnight PDT, which means 2am for me. so i think i'll sleep that night and wake up in the a.m. instead to go pickup my reserved copy at gamestop and play

during beta i woke up saturday morning at 8 am when GF went to work to try and get some hours in while she was working. servers were dead. so instead i went and did the cleaning laundry and gym all things i wasnt going to do. at 11 oclock my bro sends me a text servers are up and jump in for a few hours.

midnight play is not something ill do. mostly just DL the last of the install. see if it logs me in and if yes or no doesnt matter right back to sleep.

its not like im going to miss out on not playing at midnight. just gotta stay of the diablo fan sites and so forth for the spoilers. plus my run throughs wont be hindered by anyone else but myself.
