No, you just have to get to the point in the story where you meet the blacksmith and do the quest to get him.

Once you have unlocked him then any new characters have instant access to him.

You have to do this once for both normal and hardcore as you don't share crafters between those two modes.

Is the stash shared between normal and hardcore characters? I want to say they'd be different, but I can't make a hardcore char yet.

Also, level 9 barb is destroying everything around. It's crazy how bad it is in this game.

wow i never thought to try that, but i sure hope so! can you try talking to the caravan guy that brought you to Act2? or start a game in Act1 and if it says your progress will be lost i think it just means youll start back in town at the beginning of whatever quest you were working on when you later want to go back to questing.

As far as I know the only way to go back is to change your quest to an earlier one- you do this on the character screen. This will reset your quest chain to that point. But, you can go back to Act 2 by selecting a quest from character screen.

Nope. Hardcore and regular have their own gold, stash and crafters.

so basically the methodology from D2 of farming between acts can't be done (how people used to do Andy, Meph, D, Baal). i realize in inferno when naphelam valor kicks in it may not be beneficial to only farm certain bosses and do multiple repetitive games, but until then while in norm/nm/hell i guess it's gonna be same act boss runs for a while

until gold prices get established in the auction house, there's really not much reason to hold onto gold right now. i believe you're better off upgrading your blacksmith and that way it's much cheaper to attempt to upgrade your items. instead of dropping thousands at merchants, you can use materials and a smaller amount of gold to make your own stuff. just my .02

is anyone home playing all day today? if the servers drop would you mind posting it? i'm trying to get a feel for how stable they are today vs. yesterday and it's kinda tough to try and follow blizzards twitter for server announcements cus it moves so quick (and also i can't view the server status website here at work)

yeah i spent 2k to open up more stuff than panicked and stopped. i assume just keep spending and upgrading?

Sell the blue items for gold! Once you get to level 13ish, blue items are worth 50-150 gold. If you go to the gold auction house, essence sells for about 24 gold a piece. You can get more essence, and still have gold left if you just sell your items and buy essence on the AH.

I was talking to a buddy and he said in nightmare the crafter training pages are dropping again. They apparently only took them out of normal. Basically every 5 or so pages you collect they are combined and will level up your trainer a step.

I let mine DL over night. It was still only something pathetic, like 79%, when I woke up. Oh well. Sounds like the servers were a mess anyway. Looking forward to playing tonight.

I'm leveling jeweler and my buddy is leveling the artisan and I'm about about 50k gold invested into the jeweler and it's at level 5 so its gonna take probably around 90kgold to level fully. Totally worth it IMO the gems add a lot of damage if you socket right.

The jeweler is much, much cheaper to level up. By like 500k or so, if memory serves.

Sell it in the AH... Use the gold to buy a legendary for the monk. I was browsing Monk Legendaries in the AH last night. Man I want to find one of those so bad.

Yellow is "Rare".
Orange is "Legendary".
