OK, It's been bout another year so I figured it was time for an update. I still do not have the 63DC. Stay tuned it may be for sale shortly its super dry but is now missing the gates and engine cover and bench seat. He moved the truck to safety but did not get the gates and seat like I told him, They were wrapped up and stored flat and dry. Theives stole them and scrapped them im sure.

Now for the good part I still have my oval but got a suprise call bout a month ago now
We been tryin to settle our diffrences on a price( remember this is a woman Im dealin with) But after alot of me pullin my hair out it panned out ok. It has its few wrong parts from over the years but who would have thought I would pull up and see this.

what are your plans for her?

I am still processing all this at the moment. Cant belive haow good of shape this car is in. It have lever shocks in the rear I will get pics of them and the bottom when I get him on standsn The pan is dry also. It also has cable brakes never delt with them either. I already have two lowerd beetles and with this being a 1948 I will be leaveing him at stock height. I plan on gettin the doors matched and banana bumpers (repop). I would like to have og rearview, and sideview mirrors. The door rubber has a slot where the mirror was mounted. I also need some og big logo hub caps. I plan on driven it stock to some shows and just enjoyin the car.

i will def hit you up on the brakes. the shocks or lack of i will get you some pics of i just remember it looking like no shocks with a rectangle with what looked like rivets through a rubber snubber. probally a terrible description but thats what it looked like to me . you got some welded 16's you want to trade for my two riveted ones? i will be puttin them on this car since i have no doubt that is where they where and he changed them out for the 15's on it to get tires cheaper. I am having a good time just cleaning the car up and finding out little things. The car was well maintained and I have found several inspection records from the 80's. the oil in the motor looks new not discolored in any way but I will probally change it since its been sitting so long. ok i got to get back to work.

me and the wife cleaned up the interior a bit this weekend. The car is so freakin solid.I also found the fuel tap lever it was under the carpet. got it in correctly now I got to get me a new 6v bat and see what all works.

went back and found my big logo hub caps and another breather. I'll post up pics next week. Got some more goodies also but will keep them secret until futher inspection. My finds are comming to an end because the place is about stripped clean and they are going to bulldoze it and start new construction in the next couple of weeks. All good things must come to an end and I have no complaints about this place at all , It's been great for bout two years.

It's been a bit so here is a few small updates. I got the headlights working, wipers are working, the light in both semaphores work but I can only get the passanger side up. The driverside will only move about an 1/4 inch. I got to figure out how to get it freed up without damaging it so I can polish the shafts back clean. The passanger side was real dirty but came loose, I figure the other is the same but it wont budge. Starter works she turns over good but i will start cleaning grounds and conections in the rear next and it should turn over a little better. The rear taillights still no worky but figure its a connection prob also. Sorry for no pics just didnt think any would be real impressive until I can show you my semaphores.

But I will show you a pic of what keeps most of my time consumed. He's 1 now, and that is cake so be easy on the chit jokes.

a small update. I finally got to work on it some this past weekend. Got it on stands, cleaned out the spiders, fixed a wire to the coil, tinkered with the semaphores some more got them both working pretty smooth and pulled the tank.

I hope to rebuild the tap, I know ww has rebuild kits for the newer taps, not sure bout the older ones. I have to read and search for more info. been reading bout them on the samba. stay tuned hope to be updating more often now since we (me and my wifeee) have a plan and direction we are headed with her (our) split.

there's a place that sells rebuild kits for the early earlies. if i remember i'll get the name of the place and PM you good sir

and my .02....

replace all fuel lines while you're at it. get rid of those horrible double jam nuts on the front spindles and get yourself a set of the lock nuts. and buy a good sized fire extinguisher and keep it in the car at all times.

oh and grease the piss out of everything. those tie rods love fresh grease
