"finally a heb he said I belive so."

He scrapped a Hebmueller? Wow that is just enough to make your stomach tie itself in knots. I wonder if he had any idea what that thing was worth? That is just unbelievable.

My thoughts exactly, but in his defense he had no idea what he had. I did not see the heb, he just said it was a funny looking convertible and after I showed him some pics he said he belived thats what it was. It's not as far fetched to me because he brought me a 356 all crushed up on a trailer where he loaded it not knowing the value of any thing he had. I did what i could to save what he had left and helped him sell them.

Did a little shopping at Kaefer-Nostalgie. The parts look great and they got them here pretty quick. Now I got to get some soft line and hope to have it fired up in the next couple weeks. Should be a few updates as long as errey thing at home goes well.

I thought about posting that pic on thesamba but knew it would be like this

Steak, I have the numbers at home and I will post them up when I remember to. I believe its a 55 if I remember rite. its a 36 for sho and yes it has numerous non period correct parts: BUT GUESS WHAT, I aint tryin to make this car pure, its to far past that. Its a 48 split body on a 50 pan and missing the vin plate(too many unknowns) so my plan for now is to get it running and driving. Then soon enough it will get made purty and will be laid on it's old a$$, even though I still love this car.

I am just happy to own an split and plan to enjoy it as much as I can. It's my money pit split, besides they aint making them anymore so it has got to be worth at least a $100,000.00

well if you want to let go that seamed fan shroud, generator pulley assembly and hand crank bottom pulley bolt and corresponding crank access tin we'd be very interested

oh believe me i get and understand that for sure! i'd honestly be happy to have a split made up of all different years, means i can do to it what i'd want to do. if it was an all matching car i'd leave it stock as to not would be a serious mistake.

oh and that fake kdf is still funny. owner believes he's got the real deal here's the info link:

    http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/vie...highlight=1941

it's either a well done replica and/or quite possibly one of a handful of cars that the brits put together after the war...but a 1941 all wheel drive kdf? no such thing ever existed.
