I always wished that I made a thread back when I had my MKIV so I could have a record of all my changes to the car and whore my boring pics. Now with my MKVI I figured I'd start my own thread, even though it is about a month and a half late:
Done:
APR Stage 2 93/91/stock/100 tune
OEM Euroswitch
VCDS tweaks (disable DRLs, enable cluster staging, enable emergency brake lights, remote windows, etc.)
Bremmer Kraft BR05 18x8
Hardwired V1, concealed display, remote audio
OEM LED tails with rear fog (tinted)
Winter wheels/tires - 16x6.5 ET42 steel wheels + 205/55/16 Michelin X-Ice Xi2 with VW Tiguan center caps
GHL 200 cell metal catted downpipe (RAI J spacer, mid jet) + Magnaflow catback exhaust
APR Carbonio intake
DIY color matched side markers
GMG tow hook plate mount with offset bracket adapter
BFI Stage 1 (70a) torque mount insert
Draw-Tite hitch installed
ECS (R-dash?) LED license plate lights
Gentex Auto-dimming Homelink rearview mirror
Removed dealer applied painted pinstripes
Removed airbag warning decals
Formula One Pinnacle (ceramic) 35% tint
South Bend Stage 2 Daily/Silent clutch kit
To do:
Short shifter
Maybe add a nice resonator to my midpipe
Right after I got the car:
New wheels:
V1 concealed/remote installed:
LED tails:
Winter setup (wheel gap/reverse rake made worse due to the angle of my driveway):
Magnaflow catback exhaust installed (yes, I parked on the line.. no one was going to park in the ice/snow spot and I get as far away from open spots next to me as possible):
DIY color matched side markers:
GMG tow hook mount and ghetto DIY plate hole coverup:
And a random corner shot:
Modified piping to allow hitch to fit:
Sprayed the piping flat black, you can't really tell the exhaust was modded:
Some misc. shots after car wash:
Sweet pic (thanks g60_corrado_91 !):
A couple pics I took from a few weeks back:
7/20/12 - A few changes this week.. removed the pinstripes finally, installed an autodimming Homelink rearview mirror, removed the airbag warning decals, and got tinted (Formula One Pinnacle 35%):

Got my first scratch the other day. Serves me right for allowing my car to get so dirty and letting someone else load something into the hatch![]()

Car looks good (when clean!) Tinted LED tails is next on my list. Some clear sidemarkers would clean up the front of your GTI... Today should be warm enough in N. IL to wash your car, I plan to after the crappy weather over the last few days.

1. That "scratch" will buff out.
2. You need the protective film from VW.

Thanks for the links, it's now added to my wish list!
I wish I could wash my car today but we're having a NYE party so time is valuable, and all the hoses, etc. are packed away and the spigots are shut off. I think I'll be paying a visit to my go-to hand wash place in the city on Monday since it should be dry out

After seeing that much dirt, I understand why you kept the mud flaps. I really like the tails just hard for me to justify spending the money.

Nice car. How hard was the V1 remote? Any close up shots of where everything was mounted/ran?
#21
Thanks!
The V1 install wasn't too bad. Here's the thread I made with the useful DIY links I used: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...te-audio-today
V1 is mounted high on the windshield near the sun visor. The cable goes from the V1, between the windshield and headliner, underneath the airbag in the A-pillar, to a junction box mounted behind the panel where the headlight switch is. Power wire goes from that box to a tapped switched 12V wire in the fuse box. Another cable goes from the junction box underneath the steering column, beneath the HVAC controls and out from the 12V accessory plug in the center console where the remote audio control is. The last cable goes from the remote audio box back to the steering column and ends up where the concealed display box is mounted in the trim between the 2 gauges under the MFI.

Freshly washed with the winter setup.. Sweet wheel gap!
...and my warm weather wheels are taunting me, I'm pretty sure

Picking up a Magnaflow CBE soon most likely..
I'm worried about clamp leaks, and also I know that the particular one I'm buying has one of the tips sticking out a tiny bit further than the other.. I'm debating having a muffler shop weld the joints and see if they can do something to even the tips out

Snow tires got me safely home from a 2 hr, 20 mile commute through 6 inches of snow..
Surprisingly (to me), the tires were much better in 6 inches of fresh powder than they were in the more wet/slushy driven on snow.

Bought a Magnaflow CBE from a local guy.. Install hopefully this weekend or next, but I'm nervous since I avoid doing anything under the car other than an oil change..

Thanks! Yep, it's because of the experience level. I change my own oil no problems, and other very easy non-mechanical type of things like VCDS codes, hardwiring stuff, LED tails install, rotate/change wheels, etc. but I've never done anything with an exhaust. The furthest under a car I'd like to be is to access the oil drain plug, and looks like this exhaust stuff is more towards the center of the car, which is very new to me.
But, everyone's telling me it's so easy to do, I'm about to get started at attempt #1.
