I'm sure there's a reason why you're re-doing your axles with that NEO grease but I was wondering about what's wrong with the OEM grease. Never had any issues with it

The OE grease dries out to easily, doesn't take heat well. Especially the inner passenger side since it is next to the downpipe.

Its scratched, you should throw it out.

I actually priced axles at the dealer recently because of all the crap I've heard about aftermarket ones.

They wanted $300 per JOINT to replace them!

I was really hoping for a fuel filler to match the hood scoop but that looks like a transmission flange to me?

    Is it?

Was that $300 just for the parts?? Yeah, I've had a bad experience way back with aftermarket rebuilt axles. So now I make sure the grease does it's job. If I do have to replace a CV some day, I will definitely do it myself. I HATE doing them though...so friggin messy.

A fuel scoop it is not. You are correct, it is indeed a drive flange.

So I got the freeze plug in to replace the nippled freeze plug (slide hammer with the right end would have been ideal). Couldn't find my driver, so I decided to eyeball it and drive in the new plug....the old eyeballs ain't what they use to be and I drove it too far.

Needless to say I'll be ordering a couple new freeze plugs to redo and have a few spares just in case. Found my drivers, so I don't plan on screwing that up again.

    Buh bye OE heat exchanger...

Yeah, I bought a full set of LoBro boot kits, but I think I'm going to swap them out for Meistersatz boot kits. The LoBro boots are rubber, but the Meistersatz look to be a polyethylene material (much better chemical resistance). At least the outer I have is, not sure about the inners. Did you use the plate washers under the bolts? The new boot kits didn't come with them, so I'm glad I didn't throw them out. Maybe use some blue threadlock?

No, not going too crazy with this one. It will need to stay CA smog legal but still get me in and out of the turns as fast as legally possible...unless of course I am auto-x'ing it.

The ski in the reflection or the dirbike? Assuming you mean the dirtbike, it is a YZ450F. A lot more reliable than a Corrado too.

    Off topic...but...

Yes, the dirt bike. Nice - I don't see a whole lotta dirt bikers here on the tex. But being in SD, your riding options are still pretty open - especially further east. My ATF riding area is still Ocotillo. What year YZF? I am a die hard 2 stroke junkie here, refused to convert - love my CR500AF.

I was raised in Ramona, so Ocotillo Wells was practically in my back yard. I still prefer to ride out there, but I don't go as nearly as often as I use to. Haha. I use to refuse to convert. But one kick and I'm off riding along with using a third of the gas I am sold on four strokes. Hard to deny the 500 awesomeness though.

Transmissions are finally apart...might as well order bearings while I have to re-shim the pre-loads anyway.

Arguably the holy grail of 02a's. Should definintely get me out of the turns quicker.
