The wait for parts is killin' me.
Of course they do. Call you later today.
If I was running boost I would agree with you, but there are no plans for it while I'm in CA. All (stock) motor, canyon/autocrosser is about the only time I drive it. I hate driving on the freekway, so I don't care about top end. I can't remember the last time the traffic was clear enough to let it breathe anyway, so topend is pointless to me. If it were a daily I'd be concerned with MPG though, so I would go with the 3.93.
Gemini
1-2.7
2-1.8
3-1.5
4-1.2
5-.95
6-.83
CDM
1-3.3
2-1.944
3-1.308
4-1.034
5-.838
I will most likely go with a 4.2, but I will probably pick up the 5.166 as well just in case I want more. It has a 3.93 in it now.

I have been running a 4.24 5-speed box for the past 6 years. For road rally's I toss in a .658 TDI 5th just to keep the sanity. The 4.2 would be a great N/A selection. With boost its a bit more nutzo. I have found short gear lots of fun for the back road/mountain runs due to being able to be in a high gear and not having the engine lugging along but rather at a nice cruising rpm.

We shall see I guess.
That is good to know my friend! Thanks a bunch for the first hand account. Makes me feel better about spending the coin. Which box do you have the 4.2 in?
Thanks brotha!I probably won't top the strut tower off on the '94, that's a bit much for now. Maybe in another 100k miles I'll consider it. The rate I'm going that will be another 35 years. Haha. The plates will be a good candidate for the '93.

CDM, it was the tranny from John Livinggood from CCA. Was built by Kraftwerks. I guess he sold the car to a local Boston guy that never got around to putting it into he car (car got totaled in Florida a few years ago) I have had no problems with it, so far over 60k on it.

Thanks brotha!
If my source for Gemini parts pans out, I will let you know. What parts are you looking for? I have a cast iron transfer case for an 02c I won't be using, as well as 4cyl cases. I am still debating on the Gemini diff...it came out of the 02c, so I will have to mill the rear drive splines if I want to use it in my CDM.
Ordered some OE parts online because I got a notice they were back in stock...two days later I received an email notification that my order is delayed because the parts aren't in stock.![]()

oh man, you don't do that to a 30k mile Corrado block. Wasn't it easy to make a notch on that metal plate? Everything was going fine...
On a serious note, I'll have to do a research about the gemini parts you're sourcing, I'm not familiar with them at all but they sound very promising![]()

Haha! We're really only talking .010-.015". It's was actually ground from the factory, just not enough. I've ground more off my toe nails.![]()

No more dried out, cracked, soft rubber...
The OE R32 rear a-arm bushings became too soft for my liking even with just 10k miles on them. Going to try something a little more aggressive this time. We'll see if the rears are as impressive as the fronts. This is the last step before I go spherical.

Would love to know how they work out. I have red poly and can;t wait until the day when I rip them out. I have the R32s ready in the replacements, but it sounds like you were not trilled with them. As I get older, I guess I like less of the hammering sound when I hit hard bumps![]()

I hear ya. Waay back before I discovered Powerflex I tried some red translucent bushings. After I finally got them installed, they lasted about a month and I yanked them out for the Powerflex. Never looked back. Their copper lubricant keeps them from making any noise and they are just the right amount of stiff. Wish they made them for my truck!

I expected it to be pretty clean inside, but I didn't expect the cam lobes to not be fully polished yet.

None planned at the moment. I have had a set of Schrick's sitting in a box for some time, but for now it's going to remain stock...I think.
Not sure 268's would pass the smog inspection dyno.
Just pulling the head off to do the HG, ARP studs, and updated tensioner. Then reassemble everything, fixing all the oil seepage everywhere in the process.
I am happy with a stock VR for what I drive it for mostly. I have always wanted more bottom end grunt on a tight canyon/auto-x. Hopefully the Gemini gearset takes care of that.

Hmmm, I thought the dyno test had to do with your home address, not the year of car??? No?
If that's the case I should definitely use the cams.![]()

I'm sure it's a mixture of both variables ...idk about cali though.. they should be able to to BOTH types of tests no matter what. But from my understanding a 2 pass idle test is actually MORE difficult to pass than a dyno test. This was from my emissions tech last time I got it done. Stock 93 cat and it passed with flying colors.
(reason I know they can do both is because my car fell off the Dyno! I told them if they couldn't strap it down(too low) than they couldn't do it. The response was that they can do a two pass idle test but it's harder to pass)
