    Really can't get over the car, and I've never been one for mourning.

    Replacement is a 92 golf (gti rep) with a 68mm pulley. Just bought a stage 2 kit and a few other bits from BBM and a stainless 2.25 exhaust (came on a car that I bought for parts, otherwise would've gone 2.5)

    was repainted (poorly) at some point, but it's a daily to me. Getting ~9.5L/100 and it's making a decent amount of power, interested to see what the stage 2 will do.

    Will likely go with a front mount once the money piles up.

    Feel that I'm about done with cars until I'm finished my degree. Need a suspension and a few other odds and ends for this thing, then I'll get a mk4 diesel as a daily. Then I'll be getting into TSI mk1/ small block healey 3000 territory, maybe even settle down.

    LOL.....nice build but...

    "fuel like keeps cracking, bursting, leaking fuel everywhere in the engine bay"
    *pics of car after fire burned EVERYTHING.*
    "couldnt have been the fuel line...must have been something else"

    ::

    good luck with things

    and btw, its super easy to flare large metal lines
    parts can be bought cheap

    Well **** you too.

    Fuel has to be located on the PS for the fuel rail on an aba, vs the stock location near battery. That involves flairing the lines and running new hose from the firewall to the fuel rail. I, like everyone else, flaired the lines and clamped on some fresh fuel hose. I had the hose break on me and so I swapped to a heavier duty hose, which was doing fine for 10000km. I checked it regularly and there were no signs of wear or cutting from the clamps, then boom.

    My tank was short 20L of fuel from my fill up 5km before the fire, and yea it was fuel. Auto ignition on the manifold and it just went from there.

    Moral of the story, run SS lines.
