Thread: Thinking of getting in on DE and SBUX for a few months

  1. 09-07-2011 11:22 PM #1
I realize SBUX is on its way up right now at $39.18 w/ expansion headed to china and 700 stores in S. Korea. Where do you see this headed over the next few months?

A few months after IPO DNKN was downgraded to sell is at $26. Should I wait for this to drop and get in instead of SBUX?

Also thinking of getting in on DE, at $79.35 its stuck in the middle off of it's 52 week $99 high and $66 low, also looks to be climbing. DE pays a 2.04% dividend yield.

I want to get in on the next pullback at some point in the upcoming weeks. Any thoughts from the experts?

If we are headed into a recession then SBUX might not do so well with coffee prices high, but then again, if that means the fed starts QEn it could jump. I think SBUX would do well if recession can be avoided and coffee prices fall as they probably will. What's the coffee crop looking like this year?

^ what just hapend up there? lol

I like Starbucks, don't know much about coffee, but it could be a good long term investment. Here in Vancouver, there are over 50 stores, and they all seem to be busy!!

I wish I would have pulled the trigger on SBUX when I posted this thread a few months ago. I didn't and watched it almost double. I live and learn. Good thing I didn't buy DE though.

some one said that showing up at a starbucks before 6 am is akin to showing up at a methedone clinic before it opens,
as long as that is happening and people will pay 4 bucks for a cup of coffee why not?

for me starbucks is not my cup of tea............hahahhahahahaah

Why SBUX and why now? To me, mention of further expansion into Asia is merely another factor to consider as to when to get out. SBUX and coffee from SBUX is a novelty in an area of a billion tea drinkers. I'm really interested to know what other tricks the grand wizard has up his sleeve cause I dont see it.

They just bought La Boulange. While $100M and 19 stores is really nothing it signals an angle they are going to try expanding on.
