Looks like the Frisco / Plano thread I started right before I left Avenue Autosport got archived since Avenue is no longer a Vortex sponsor, and I started that thread as "jared@avenueautosport."
Anyhow, let's keep it going! Cabbievr6, vdub10golf, everyone else... c'mon back!

We give a damn!My buddy from Wisconsin (jgruen78) who posted in that thread sometimes actually pointed it out to me that it got blackholed. Oh well - hopefully everyone finds us here again.
I see you're a fan of APR... here's some pics from a couple of the distributor conferences I attended there:

funny, i posted something about getting some karting together at the DKC some time ago, that may have been before the forum change also. i could be up for that at some point, but my schedule is often tricky as well.

Sorry I've been lazy about getting on here! I do plan on going to Vagbahn - yes! I'm trying to convince my brother in law to go too, with his Corrado.
I guess as it gets closer we can all try to make plans to roll out as a group.![]()

Is there a particular shop you guys can recommend for suspension work in the Plano/Frisco area?
#16
Sorry I haven't lived here long enough to make any recommendations.
I wanted to know if a group of people would be rolling together to Vagbahn. My brother-in-law and I are registered!

Autoscope if you have some cash to throw at the project. www.autoscope.net/

Does that mean they charge a premium? I found them through Google and they seem to be highly profitable based on the looks of their facilities. Not sure how I feel about places like that. I don't mind paying for quality workmanship, but I do mind paying a premium for a fancy waiting room.

Uh-oh... I fo'got to put down mah LANDIN' GURR!!
#20
yes you will pay a bit more, but paying $150 for a right alignment is far better than paying $75 and having to do over... which is exactly how i found them.
#21
Thanks for the rec, but just called for a quote and spring installation is $830. Wow.

yeah, i would keep looking, Autoscope are professionals, just they work on BMWs and higher end cars, so they are used to charging more.
I went there and got an oil change and asked them to check out the front end and they wanted to charge me $350. for ball joint job!! That was just labor. the parts were over $100!!! I went straight to GAP and got both of them for $22!!! Little crazy. I might use them for alignments though. Closer than PTP, and Dubsquared.

dubsquared does not do alignments FYI. thats where PTP or Wilkensons comes in. Wilkensons may not be a first choice but they are close to dubsquared and are cheap. they did me right with a 4 wheel alignment once. i would use them again, but i dont go down there anymore cus im in Carrollton now.

Ok, my DG springs arrived. I've decided to DIY this. Haven't tackled a car project in a while. I've read all the DIY instructions I could find and it looks pretty straightforward.
Anyone available to lend me a hand on December 10th? I'll provide lunch and gas money if you want. I live on the northwest side of Frisco between The Colony and DNT.
I have most of the tools already and O'Reilly's is across the street from my house. I have air tools, but no impact sockets. I also have no sure fire way to remove the 21mm top strut nut. My GearWrench pass thru socket set only goes up to like 18mm. I do have a 21mm regular deep socket.

hey guise. Im over in plano, I have a mk2 gti 16v. Im looking for a shop that can help me tune it. I just rebuilt the engine, Its running well, but wont pass inspection. Nox levels were too high.
Im hoping there is a shop around that knows about CIS-E motronic, can help with timing, and or has a sniffer.
There any friendly inspection places around here?- that will allow a couple passes on the rollers to get my timing dialed in to bring my nox levels down to pass. I think my ign timing might be to blame, or possibly an adjustment to my CIS fuel distributor for high nox.
would the dealer (boardwalk) be able to dial this stuff in? any of you guys work there or anything?![]()
