Hey guys, looking at a 2000 Jetta with a broker timing ''belt" on it. I know its actually a timing chain but the cars has just less than 100k on it for 2800 bucks. Its really clean but what damage is probably done?

Yes, it is an interference motor. Only way to really know how bad the damage is to take her apart.

I guess this is an ignorant question but what's the typical damage done by a vr6 chain breaking or just an interference belt breaking for that matter ?
