Really? Your fuelly says you average more like 31 mpg.Which is still pretty good considering EPA estimate was 30 hwy for the Si.
http://www.fuelly.com/driver/hushypushy/crx
Pretty much this. My good friend in college had a 2nd gen CRX Si and I had a 2nd gen Integra LS. Good cars for the price, fun to drive, decent mpg, fun to work on, and the styling was good enough for us.
Looking back, they really were slow as balls and thousands in mods could barely help that. There were a ton of cars back then that could get similar or better fuel efficiency, simply because cars were able to be lighter back then. The interiors were pretty solid compared to the competition, although the styling was always a bit boxy and some interior bits were clearly "cost effective".![]()

Wow- such wonderful little cars.
I just wished I could fit in them.
I find it patently ridiculous that I can fit well enough in a similar vintage MX-5 to drive it, but can't even get behind the wheel of a CRX without breaking my neck off.
At least the front wheel drive CRX hatchback doesn't have the MX-5's chick car status.![]()

Thanks for all the love. This is my car. I bought it off of the original owner and although I will be modding it, I will keep all of the original components--I will mostly focus on suspension, Racetech rt1000 will be replacing the driver's seat and a sexy 15x7-8 wheel and sticky tire combo will replace the skinny stockers.
I strongly disagree here. My 88 Civic STD which was about 100lbs lighter than this rex, had a b16 in it with a bunch of bolt-ons and it pulled a 13.9 in the 1/4 mile. And that is with ~$2000 worth of mods. The car was setup for roadcourse/autox duty, so it was nowhere near as fast in a straight line as it could have been for $2000.
Even the little d16a6 with I/H/E can do 0-60 in about 7.5 secs. Not bad if you ask me. That being said, there cars are stellar handlers. On an autox course, few cars can challenge them.
So to answer a question on the previous page. Why a CRX?
Nimble
Excellent fuel economy
Great rear cargo room
Super easy to park in the tightest spots due to the excellent turn radius and mini cooper size.
TONS of aftermarket support
Cheap
Extremely reliable
And an absolute blast to drive
Great looks :p

No, it's because the vasillov guy has been somewhat of a troll recently with his exaggerated 335i MPG claims and excessive euro-snobbery.
Also, 13.9 isn't even coming close to the capability of these. E85 tuning and bolt-ons these days make it possible for these cars to put down 220-230whp all-motor..not even getting into FI. Throw on some slicks and they are running 12's. In today's world where cars like mine are considered light (a 3200lb GTI) we forget how 400hp isn't always needed to go fast.

Niiiiiice. I can't remember seeing one that nice in many, many years. I haven't driven the CRX Si, but I drove a Civic Si semi-extensively. What a fantastic car. I'd love to try out one such as yours, as with it's lighter weight and shorter wheelbase I'm sure she'd be a blast to toss around.
Congratulations on a nice pickup.![]()

This sort of thing amazes me, as the car was not some exotic back in the day - I had friends that bought them new and drove the wheels off. My 1985 Honda Prelude was the first car I bought new off the lot (not long out of college, just landed that first promotion) and as much as I adored it, it would never have occurred to me to preserve it. It was a Honda! Maybe the 944 my brother talked me out of, but not a Prelude.
Is someone somewhere, lovingly protecting a Yaris or CRZ right now?
A hundred dollars on your hair, fifty on your nails, fifty on make-up, two hundred dollars for an outfit. You ladies spend four hundred dollars to bring home a thug that ain't worth ten cents!

Yeah, 31mpg AVERAGE. Lifetime. If you drove with me, you'd think that's pretty impressive--I drive extremely aggressively, taking advantage of all 106 ponies whenever possibleMy lifetime average with the Miata so far is 25.9, and with that car I've spent more time on the highway and far less time at redline...
My best tank was 37.0mpg and that was about 70% highway. If I had stayed on the highway the entire time I'm sure I could've hit 40.0 or higher. The EPA estimated 29/32 back in the day, for me it was more like 23/40.
He is the owner.
And if you're serious, we'll be at your house next week![]()

You are a complete tool! This is the reason why I asked a question. I honestly do not know anything about these cars, and this being the TCL, I thought I'd ask a question. Some people here provided a a fairly reasonable answer: lightweight car with good reliable engine and good driving dynamics. That's sufficient. I don't need a reprimand and a lecture, aaait?

Such a great little car when it's un-molested. My buddy had a beater one in red, but it was still fun to zip around in.
Unfortunately for many, a HP number and how fast you can get to the next light determine how awesome a car is.To me that's kinda like when I was a child and thought that the speedometer max meant that was how fast the car could go. Man those 85mph cars were slow back in the Carter years
