Wouldn't you have to lay it on thick for plastidip to work? The vinyl looks stock IMHO. My PepBoys tape has held up great and I can just peel it off when/if I ever want to change back to chrome.

Not quite. It just takes three or four light coats and the end result is just as good as vinyl.

Doesn't look bad on video but I think the vinyl was faster, cleaner and easier...

Vinyl will last upwards of 12yrs, (Avery advertises a 12yr longevity for their matte and gloss black) not sure plastidip can claim the same longevity of what it's like touching up or removing after longterm adhesion. I'd guess it'd be as much of a bear to fix as the soft touch interior bits which are a nightmare to address when they get banged up.

Just ordered the shadowline trim in matte finish. Could I get a quick tip on wrapping the edges of the chrome at the doors? Also, when you cut the vinyl, did you use soemthing between the paint and trim, as well as the rubber gasket and trim?
Really looking forward to this change. Hopefully the trim arrives with my OEEM black grille and gloss-black vw emblem.
