Canvas Rider

Anybody play Canvas Rider here?
I ran across it by accident after installing Google Chrome on my work PC and seeing the "aps" thing.. and then looking for free games I ran across it.
I guess the simplest description is Line Rider but instead of a sled that's just sliding along out of your control, you control a guy on a bicycle... and you can add checkpoints, gravity changes, bombs.. and it is timed.
It's so dang simple, yet I find it very enjoyable.
Making tracks is about as simple as possible.
You can literally make a playable track in twenty seconds (but it will be very short and probably suck..lol).

I also hated Line Rider.

Line Rider is not a game.. it's an exhibition.
Canvas Rider is actually a game.
Tho some of the tracks/levels or nothing more than Line Rider types where you just watch what happens to your rider (don't understand these.. or why they get so many thumbs up).
It really is like reduced video games.. reduced down to the basics like an old NES game.
First you play a level to see it and try and just finish.
Then you try and beat the top times.
You can click on the top times names and see their actual plays -like a ghost car in racing games. So then you can try and keep up and get pissed off.

It's pretty fun. For some reason though, it lags on some tracks. I guess my computer can't handle 2d lines.

Are you playing full screen?
Just play using the small screen.
My old pentium D (1st gen dual CPU) PC at works works fine like that.
It's flash based graphics- so it is 100% CPU ran.

Oh- and the white circle/dot is "slow mo" for a few seconds.

That's good.

It's an odd game.
Speed means more than just flooring it all the time.
On that track- letting off the throttle just right before the jump means less time wasted in the air and hitting the landing with no room to spare.

(and I know my 1st track is not exactly great... no need to be overly nice)

And you need to register to have your times recorded (and in the records).

The Construction zone flip turn/jump really got me stumped for a while. It's a pretty good first map. Also, the random hot air balloon?!?!

I just booted up my old P4 2.2 machine (typing on it now- still waiting for cheap 3.06 P4 chip I bought off of ebay).
And the track size seems to make a huge difference in speed.
The small 1st track works great, but bigger K tracks are stupid slow.
Do not go full screen.

Damn. I tried and tried with your ghost ride.. and have no idea how you got past the first jump that low (which allowed for your quick time).

And I got 7.9 seconds... I can actually do better than you until the 1st jump landing, and then I don't hit the little jumps smoothly for some reason.

Canvas Rider is free and works on old PCs.
Not sure how that PC version of ModNation Racers relates.

(tho it does look like fun )

That new track was screwing with me until I realized I didn't have to do the whole thing.

I did it in 7 seconds flat! But that is unofficial.

You glitched somehow on that 5.5 run.
You hit the line with your body before hitting the finish circle.

I actually hit it with my head first (which stopped the time) but it kept going. The collision detection is weird.

IDK.. your bike is below the line.. so I just don't see how it gave you that finish without showing you dead first.

It detects collisions from the upper body(stomach/chest/shoulders/head)/bike frame/wheels. So there is a space from the handlebars back to the main body of the character, where it's free.


The finish bubble has ~1mm of extra hit detection space.



Of course, I could be wrong.

But I ended up having to add a bunch of lines to get the track big enough to be uploaded.
Still, it's just 2k.
So it should work good on old PCs.
I did it on my old P4 Dell... and for some reason when making the track it acted like I always had the button clicked (making it a real pain). Anybody know what would cause that?
That also messed me up when I was trying to get an image for the track link (main track page).
