In just 18 hours using Eurowise’s MK1 VR6 conversion kit we transformed our tame little rabbit into a snarling beast. In that time-frame we removed both the motor from the donor car and our rabbit, installed the VR6 motor, fabricated a functioning and OEM appearing cooling system, wired the entire car and made other minor modifications to produce a fully functioning vehicle. The driving experience is everything you would expect: raw, visceral, and a total handful. Check out the end for footage of it running and driving…

Awesome work. Now who's gonna be the first one to throw an R32 motor into a MK1 using these mounts?

Funny how one day a VR6 mk1 is an internet joke and the next it's the coolest trend and money maker for a company. Nice job on the swap regardless. This should be the first link the next time someone asks how to do a VR6 swap. You know, just to get their hopes up that it's super easy.
The best part of the vid was at 1:03 when the beer showed up in the video![]()

Huge congrats BFI on the rapid swap! Very impressed. Even more impressed with how well (read "level") Eurowise got the VR to sit in the bay. I find it comical how crooked many of the homegrown VR (and other "non bolt-in") transplants can be.

omg want. passenger side brake light out?

They're not level factory. Engine sits higher on passenger side. Probably vw was trying to help weight balance, seeing as a transmission is lighter than an engine. I don't think there is anything comical about someone thinking outside the box and getting a vr into a mk1 . I've done it twice with full subframe (awesome gti store style) and with MK3 mounts (more shawn veneer style). I'm sure both were not level. But one has been running since 96 the other since 06.
This all being said, I think eurowise's kit is kick ass and I got my hands on one of their kits for a cab I'm building this winter. Build time goes down massively with this kit. Takes the hard part out of building a vr MK1.
Neither of the VR bunnies I built have flipped yet either.
Now BFI, get rid of that us spec dash in that rabbit!

The car was bought with a 16v swap running on digi1, as well as a list of other mods already on it including the small tails. As of the video and pictures so far, all we have done to the car is the swap. More parts came in while we were gone at H20i and the next steps will be taken soon![]()

18 hours, could have thrown some carbs on it and done it in 10![]()
Mk1's, German Classics not Brazilian plastics.
