OK, so with a stripped interior and VR6 in the nose and an empty gas tank it might be a little nose heavy...........

Cage is almost done, as well as its new shoes 14x7 TD's with Hankook RS3's. Some of the other details should get knocked out and addressed by next weekend and I should have some new pics next week as well![]()

im curious about the oil pan clearance as well. also, i understand it comes with custom axles, but was there a reason that you couldnt have just made the kit to work with late cabriolet axles? that way when they break (which im sure someone is gonna do it) we could just get a new axle with out having to find a special one, or have one made, or have to go thru the one place that sells the kit.

^^^^^^ I second that

i figured that much...
though i understand eurowise is just making the kit, and BFI is distributing it. im imagining one or the other will offer replacements. i am curious as to the reasoning behind it though. i hear of people using them on their mkI vr swaps often enough, so why not keep with the trend of making it easy? and not only that, wouldnt that save on the cost of making the kit in the first place? less money to make it=less money to buy it=more people buy it=they make more money in the long run. maby im just over thinking it. but the axles, and the questionable pan clearance is really all thats stopping me from buying one of these setups for my swap.

You have to run custom axles, or notch the passenger frame rail. One or the other. Stock 100mm driver's side axle puts the pulleys inside the frame rail. Short axle allows the whole shebang to be moved over so you don't need to notch.
I notched. I like stock axles.

Folks employing mkIII/IV mounts are also making/ having custom axle/s made. Im still really curious to see what the required downpipe looks like.

the pans going to be low on any vr swap.
also, im pretty sure others have done it without modding axles. the only difference is that most people like to not have the motor that far over so itll be a little more balanced(hopefully). its literally a couple of inches.

im with you on that. i have every intention of notching the frame rails for the axles, and welding the mkIII mounts so the oil pan sits level or a few mms higher than the control arms, i will figure out what i want to do with the hood from there. ive been seeing where people have to notch the passengers side frame rail for the pulleys too, and figured id have to do that. this is not supposed to be my daily or anything. its just intended to be mkI, low as crap, and have a vr6 in it... and be relatively nice to look at. but thank you for answering my question. makes perfect sense.

of all the swaps(even stock axles) on here ive never seen anyone have to notch anything for pulleys![]()

i cant remember the guys name but he had a blue rabbit with a clipper kit and black steelies and im pretty sure he used stock 16v scirroco axles.
