Overall a good experience. I bought both braces at the same time and UniBrace gave me a bit of a discount to get them together. Installation of the XB went with no problems except that I couldn't get it installed as high as some others. It is about half an inch lower and I had to remove the little clips on the backs of the seats due to interference. UniBrace may have solved this - you need to inquire.

The UB brace went on very quickly. I had to loosen some of the heat shields to get it in flush. The ends of the brace needed to get under the shields to be planted firmly against the body. The car did not have all of the flange nuts holding on the original braces - I was short 4 from the factory. I took it to the dealership to buy more. They offered to replace them for me at no charge, which I let them do. They ended up breaking one of the studs that holds the brace. They fixed it with a nutsert (like is used on the XB). It took two visits but they were apologetic and didn't charge me so all is good. Double check with UniBrace to see if they ever got the torque specs worked out.

As far as handling improvements, the car feels stiffer and more planted through corners - very subjective I'm sure. I didn't test the braces individually. I did run through the TOD several times in the years before braces and then again a few months after installation and I felt a lot more confident. Not sure if the car and braces were affecting that or if it was just more experience on the dragon. I had my new summer tires after the braces were put on as well so that probably helped my confidence too.

I like the way they look too!

Got my HPA Hockey Puck installed this week -- you can really feel the difference! Remarkable. Slight increase in vibration at idle, otherwise no detrimental effects. All good.

Install by the local tuner took 45 minutes and $59 took care of that. As reported elsewhere, the most difficult part was to get the old mount out of there.

A few quick snaps before heading south to WiTW 2012. All cleaned up and ready to go.

I need to ask some of the guys how to make the colors in these pictures pop a bit more.

Here is a link to all my WiTW photos...

Can't believe you caved to the peer pressure.

Build threads are silly. Get a blog, they are free. This is a discussion forum. You (this is meant in general, not specific to Dave) are not a precious snowflake.
I have installed most of the popular bolt-on mods for a 2008 R32, minus suspension work. I know a lot about electronics and car audio, and have experience with VCDS ("vagcom"). I'm a radar/lidar countermeasure enthusiast. I like track days, autocross, and US Highway 129. I love aural pleasure.
