What are spring rates for the coilovers? Front and Rear? and does anyone now how it rides slammed yet? On the fence right now about these. Just waiting on money before i make a decision.

As per the original post:

The rear rate is not published by Solo Werks, but the information we have is they are in the 190-220 working range.

There is a heavier rear spring that Solo Werks will be releasing in the next month or so for the Wagon's

When we were doing testing at the full lowering (with helpers and rear perch in), the ride was really good, with the only problem being the sway bar rubbing. If that was not there, it would have been perfect.

Hello soja111, that is a great question.

It is not the size of the bar that matters, it is the design! LOL

Sway bars like the ones offered from Neuspeed have been designed to fix this issue:

The NEUSPEED front anti-sway bar is a must-have item for all lowered Golf IV, Jetta IV and Beetle vehicles. The factory front bar can strike the driveshaft when the suspension is compressed. NEUSPEED's front bar features a correctly engineered arc to provide the additional clearance that lowered cars need.

Hello Jarroldem, you have a very good question!

All Coilover kits are designed for a specific height range that they are intended to work in, and 99% of the kits are designed for a lower than stock range.

First thing I would like you to take a look at your actual height now.

If you were to measure your current height using the Center of Wheel to fender measurement, where does your car sit now? (as per the image below) - Post up your measurements and we can see what we can do



I have had many customers that did not realize how much their factory suspension has "settled" over the years, and the max height of a coilover is actually where they are sitting now!

With that said, if we are out of the range of any of the systems we offer, and you are looking to only firm up your suspension there are OEM replacement Sport Shocks and Sway Bars that are designed to firm up the ride without changing the ride height.

So get that measurement data to start, and either post it up or send me an email and we can work through it and see what we can do for you!

The car is a 2004 jetta GLI ,but it has aftermarket 17" wheels. I figured the wheel size may factor into your numbers so i threw that in there. Also, im not completely opposed to going lower.

Perfect! What this tells me is that you are already setup really close to the max height levels of the Solo Werks coilover kit!

At max height, the Solo Kit measures out at:
Front 13 7/9"
Rear 14"

The beauty of the center of wheel to fender measurement is that it is not influenced by the tire size like the fender to ground measurement is.

Imagine if you just put a lower profile tire on the same rim without changing the suspension height.

Your car would be lower to the ground & have larger tire to fender gap, but the wheel center to fender does not move at all.

So the Solo Kit should fit your current height needs, as well as any future lowering you may want to do, even just for fun!
