Very true, its easy to get all "grumpified" with all of life's stressor's: work, the significant other, bills, kids, pets, parents, siblings, home repairs, cars, and did I mention work and bills???

but I will definately be there for a COC gtg next year providing I'm still state side

Probably because the reason for the Old Curmudgeon GTG is due to the things we bitch about here. You know, totally related.

Think your car would have gotten keyed years ago before it became Brahfest ?

I liked when you could call NGP and get someone who knew a VW on the phone instead you get "Hey brah, thanks for calling NGP"

I had a 96 golf 2.0 then swapped in a vr6 thats long gone. I then bought a 1991 corrado g60. I tried making it a daily driver and I lost that battle so I sold it and picked up a 2001 golf gls and a 2001 cabrio. And with in the next month maybe getting 2007 gti or a 2007 audi a3.

Just seeing this thread. I'm down. It will be nice to be around people without hip hugging skinny jeans and MKIVs built with mom and dads money.

I love the, dare I say scene, but get tired of people thinking I'm trying to make my car look like a 20th... It's a 337 you GD HIPPSTER DOUCHE. Bitter, why do you ask?

I just saw this thread for the first time. Looking forward to a mature GTG next year. Since I'm in my fiftys, I'm sure that I qualify. I do have a couple of pairs of skinny jeans though but won't wear them when we meet. And a old fart did win Top Dawg this year in a MK4.

Welcome all to the "You're Doing it Wrong" VW thread! Hadn't checked in for a while and glad to see the thread is still unlocked and gaining new members. Yesterday was the first time I have been on vortex in like 3 months, to busy clearing codes on the FSI Jetta as it just rolled over 80K.

    apparently so.

I figured after page 3 the bag riderz would have showed up, started a flame war, and the thread would have been locked into obscurity. Vortex proving me wrong once again. Should take more mental health sick days as so far I have gotten to use the internet for something other than work, order some parts from ECS, and get in a few games of Forza 4.

I am thinking some sort of pre H2O curmudgeon GTG may be needed to keep faith alive and spread the gospel. Somewhere with lots of speed humps to keep the riff-raff out or at an Old County BUffet.

    Something around tax time?

    That sounds like a plan.

If you control arms are more than 7 degrees above being level, you are not allowed. Perhaps we could meet up on an old logging road or poorly paved city street.

I'm glad this is still alive. The more the merrier. There might even be a couple mini coopers around when this goes down...

Maybe one! I'll drive the damn Jetta. Super-loud exhaust be damned.

Or did someone else buy a MINI?

Justin mentioned something about bah-humbugging-it-up. Does he still have the mini or did that get traded for the mistu? I can't keep track.

Whatever the case, I'm really not picky. 'Run whatcha brung'.

Gotcha. The only thing left of Justin's mini are a couple of sets of wheels and a stud kit, both of which are in my possession

This thread seems to flare up, and then die again...

I just ordered the Ross Tech Pro-kit yesterday. Looking forward to not having to drive around with DRL's anymore!

I think now that my daughters leukemia is under control and she is in the maintenance phase I can make it.

The question is will it be in a ratty MKIV with a 3076 or a mk2 syncro golf or a green B5 1.8Tq with a 5857 turbo and other bits?

The only running car is the MKIV.

I'd be down for this depending on the age requirement. I'd think I'd qualify since I've been going to shows since the mid 90's, but who knows.

Somewhere free of hipsters, 2.0l cars with .5cm of ground clearance, and oil slicks caused by people totalling brand new cars and smashing pans on manhole covers.

Maybe a parking lot with speedbumps, and maybe an initial early gtg?

Around here we have exotic/classic meets at 7-8am so riff raff does not show up -- it sure as hell works and you have a drama free meet with car folks from all walks of life.

An early-ish meet will most likely weed out any hipsters

Yeah dude. Celebrated 10 years back in April. And... I agree on the modern music - at least nearly everything with radio play.

I'm putting an AEB in the Jetta here at some point - may need to ask you some questions since you're the turbo guru.

I have tons of 20v stuff. I'm actually about to part out a 3076R 1.8t jetta with 3651 cat cams, custom tune, an extra unitronic 630cc ecu, an extra set of 630cc injectors.....

I have an 02J quaife, a new beetle trans to rebuild around it that needs diff bearings and a shimming..... .
