You beat my ninja edit! Yeah, the RS3 wears wider tires up front. I've read 255 and 235... I know 235 will fit, but I don't know about 255.

      Hadn't heard that; odd.

It really depends on your budget, but I'd say if you went 18x9 all around you could fit at least a 245 on there without... easy.

What will the stock wheel and tire size be?

      18x7 with 225/40/18 tires?

Need to know this before I decide what wheel and tire package I get.

Out of curiosity, why would the stock size dictate what wheels and tires you would get?

Sorry I know "crazy custom wheel" wasn't all that clear. I guess what I am saying is I don't want to pay big bucks for custom wheels just to get a bit of extra rubber down.

On my B6 S4 I could realistically only get 245's on the car without rubbing. According to Stassis Engineering you could get 265's on that car if you got a wheel built to particular specs...but it was cost prohibitive. No other off-the-shelf wheel that I looked at would work.

As for the R it will be a daily driver but I will also autocross it regularly in a street tire class. I probably will not be lowering the car from stock ride height.

245's fit nice on an 8" rim. I like when the sidewall is nice and vertical. I'm not overly keen on too much of a stretched look.

I'd like what I choose to be as close to the stock circumference as possible..

What I found is I can go with the Miro 111 in an 18x8.5 et35 with a 245/35/18 tire and be within a fraction of the stock overall circumference.

Using a tire/wheel calculator I should be .2" closer to the suspension and .6" closer to the fenders.
and 1.3% slower. So when speedo says 60mph, I should only be doing 59.2mph. I'd rather be a little smaller than taller. Car will accelerate quicker with less mass and technically a slightly smaller gear (due to the circumference being smaller)

I went ahead and ordered 2 of the Miro wheels just a few minutes ago. I'll order 2 more next week and then the tires in a similar fashion. Then I'll have VW mount and balance them when my car comes in, so the car comes home with them on.

I've had these sitting in my garage for the past 1.5 years (from my '07 GTI). I'm secretly hoping I'll be in another VW so I can use them again.

Hey Brandon@socalstance...........What happened to you? No return PM or email in a couple of days, yet you seemed pretty eager to earn my business.

I've been eyeing some reps of the wheels that come on the RS3:

These are 19x8.5 +47ET. I gather that will work on the R? I like the anthracite ones better, but they aren't offered in +47ET.

      Just ordered a set.

I think 19's would probably look better, but with the car lowered properly, these will look sweet.

OK...So, here's what my car will look like, except mine will be four doors.

This may sound crazy, but I'm seriously considering having the car completely re-painted.
Hyundai's Titanium Gray. Talked to my body shop guy today. Not a Macco guy either. Lot's of custom stuff, hotrods, choppers, etc.., besides everyday collision repairs.
