I want to buy a set of 18x9.5 Rotiform NUE's with ET 35 offset. Will they fit without rolling the fenders? If so, what tire size should I go with so I don't have to stretch them? Or should I just go with 19x8.5 since the 18x8.5 is on backorder? Thanks!

Disregard that post above. Now I think I'm going 19x8.5 NUEs because they are available and after looking at lots of pics of MkVI's with 19's, I really like how they look. So...could you please help me decide the appropriate offset? They come in 35 and 45, and I have ordered Bilstein PSS coilovers and don't want poke or rub. Thanks!!!

You're probably gonna want 45 if you don't want to rub.

Slide, nice thing is the wheels also come with the correct 57.1mm hub bore - no adapter rings needed.

Just curious, since I don't know much about offsets. Why does a 35 work for 18x8.5, but you're supposed to go with 45 for 19s?

In extremely simple terms the lower the offset number the farther out from the vehicle the wheel will stick. It has nothing to do with rim diameter, its rim width and suspension height that will determine rubbing.

If you are going to lower an R more than about 1/2" and are not ready to roll/pull/massage/destroy your fenders don't get a wheel with a 35 offset.

After seeing Matt @ GMP's thread over at golfmk6 I'm now torn between the black VMR710s and some black or Gunmetal RSe14s on a RB 4 door. What, is there like a 5lbs per wheel difference between the VMR710s and RSe14s?

THANKS!!! Found a place that has 18x8.5 with 45 offset. I originally wanted 18's not 19's anyway.

So you turned down the offer of the new R? I am sure you will love the TT-RS. Compared to the understated R, that TT-RS is a tad outlandish...

I actually just realized something odd this afternoon. In the 3 months that I've had the car I have had 3 different people comment on how much they like the wheels (stock).

I drove my MkV GTI for 4 years with my Huffs on in the Summer and don't remember ever getting the same comments. It's odd to me because I actually found the Huffs to be a much more striking and noticeable wheel than the OEM R wheels. To each his own I guess.

I'm still not quite sure what I want to do about wheels yet. I don't dislike the OEM wheels but I'm definitely not as infatuated with them as I was with the Huffs so I imagine they won't last as long.

I will give you a quick answer here, but lets keep the comments out of this thread. I will post on the other thread once I no longer have my R.
The VW dealer has been feeding me BS over the past 2 weeks. I've been waiting for proof that they ordered the R. Every time I call, they give me some BS excuse why they are unable to show me the paperwork. The final straw was a few days ago, when they pulled back their offer on my trade. "It could go down a thousand dollars or so in 3 months." They can go **** themselves.
