I'm winning in life, too. It doesn't get any better.

However, I must give credit where credit is due. Had my wife not touched so many people in her life (in a good way) we would not have had the outpouring of prayers and good wishes and actual help in getting through the last year. We are not religious people in any way, but we did feel the power of prayer.

Thank you all. It's been a pretty amazing trip. I learned more about the female anatomy than I ever cared to know, but have been more than rewarded by her gratitude. It was a very different thing to go from a care receiver (bad back) to primary caregiver. You never know what you can do until you have to. Luckily, I built the house around my handicap making the whole house wheelchair accessible. She quickly regained her strength and is back where she was before this all began. We are very lucky people, and we know it.

Really needed a haircut but didn't feel like getting one today but for whatever reason, I drive by to see if they're busy. Nope - computers are down, cash only. I never carry cash, but technical difficulties from what would have been a dyno on my car yesterday meant I had cash. Walked right in, sat right down, and proceeded to have a halfway decent conversation with the cute enough blonde who was cutting my hair (I absolutely hate the sit in silence, forced topic every now and then convo's that usually ensue)

A bit less than 3 years ago I started a band with two of my good friends.

In 2010 we signed a record deal with a cool Montreal label, recorded our first LP album (we had an EP out in 2009) which came out in march 2011.

We've been playing live a lot since, and our album was nominated for Alternative Album of the year in the ADISQ Awards (it's kind of like the Grammys, but for French Canada )
It's the big award show for Quebec's music industry...

And in two weeks, we're heading to Europe for a small tour in France. And we're touring again in France in december!

It's pretty much my childhood dream coming true! We still don't really make money out of it, it's hard in such a small market when you don't play mainstream music, but at least I'm not paying to play anymore

I recently fell in love with a wonderful girl. She was just a really cool g/f, but it just hit me going to sleep one night and I just blurted out those three scary words. As someone who doesn't say those without meaning it, it's exciting, scary, and wonderful, especially to hear them back from someone who has never said it and meant it to someone else.

Everything else in life is great and all, but that's more important to me than my start up company negotiating on seed funding, thus starting me off working for myself with a few others, and getting ourselves money rather than my current bosses. I can always start another company, but girls like this don't come along often.

Wrapped up my best quarter in 2 years (damn economy), $1.7M. My lovely wife tells me she's taking the kids for the weekend to visit her best friend out of town....Lions won, Tigers won, Red Wings won....

So it was road trip time. Took a tour, absolutely nowhere, had lunch, and drove back.

This thread is way more encouraging than the rant thread!

I sharted earlier but I forced my bum crack shut so it wouldn't leak down to my underwear.

I staggered my way to the bathroom and wiped it clean.

Proposing to the gf soon, have a family friend who is a private jeweler and told me when the time comes he would work with me at cost. He outdid himself and got a rock for $3188 that would have retailed for more like $8,000. Then even just a week later the price for that quality of a stone had jumped up over a grand even for him, I checked out retail prices on similar quality stones after he told me that and I was seeing prices anywhere from $9-13,000! He also managed to get the perfect setting at about a grand off retail. Getting a ring valued at anywhere from $12-16,000 for a little over $5,200? Great effin' success!

Step 2 could either prompt a "Down in flames" thread or another post in here.

This! The first time saying it and meaning it, then hearing it back and knowing she means it to is amazing. Mine was this summer.

This. I had a skull fracture (like in 7 places) and a 2 out of 15 concussion (where 1 is the worst possible) and was out of the hospital in 3 weeks, and recovered to full non vegetable, non slow self in less than 6 months. I am not religious either, but that was truthfully amazing. All the doctors were amazed.

I've been working my ass off for 5 years and haven't spent one unnecessary dime in the last two. Now I have my own place with mortgage payments lower than my rent used to be, my car is payed off, I bought some cool art for the walls along with a goddamn 60" TV, I'm sipping 100$/bottle whiskey, I'm going hunting for a week with my dad and I'm going to see guys punch themselves in the face for my 30th birthday.

Now I only need to nab a honey that's orbiting around and hope I get a rational one (though that may be a lot to ask )
