After being unemployed since the beginning on the year, I finally got a paid internship.
Even better, it's in my field and less than 10 minutes away from my apartment

so I stayed in tonight because I had a huge case study to go through and make notes on for monday and to celebrate reading through 50 pages and a **** tonne of financial documents I went out and had a "smoke" in the back. Then proceeded to walk around and right around the hood corner from my place on one of Toronto main streets was this 70 something year old lady walking around in a nighty and I thought it was a little strange but I kept walking and decided if I saw a cop I would say something.

A minute later completely inebriated a hell I see a cop parked on the other side of the road.So walk over to the car and let him know the details and he went to go see what was up. For me in was a success because I have a not so great past with cops, cuffs, the back of cruisers and holding cells but it felt good to be a good samaritan and actually talk to the cops even knowing the state I was in.

In the end he laughed because it was one of the area regular crazies but he said thanks and went and helped her out.

2 r8's live down the street from me. Continental gt and s550 across the street, sl63 amg up the street, Black F430 visits across the street. Skyline gtr a couple blocks over.

Same sort of thing happened to me last week, two bums outside my work were fighting arguing for a while, saw a cop flagged him down. Cop ends up with 4 backup cars, two minutes later the bums are both set to leave, apparently they can not arrest the bums for being belligerently drunk on the street. 4 out of 5 squad cars leave. Bum is walking down the street says something to me. I go up to the cop still down the road, tell him this guys way too inebriated and starting **** with everyone on the street. Cop gets real name and **** from bums I.D. arrests him for outstanding warrant. Great Success. Other than that normally I wouldn't be talking to da police. I have a pic of him being walked to the squad car in cuffs, just too lazy to upload it.

Got most of my golf game back yesterday. Was at 75 through 16 holes yesterday but then had to leave to pick up my kids from school. That was impressive for the ****ty way I've been playing and having two kids! That was with sinking 3 20+ footers and missing 3 easy birdie opportunities.

Same for me. The one here is opening sometime in January. Before, the closest one was about 40 minutes away and now the new one is 10 minutes from me.

Stripped down the 4G61T (1.6 version of the 4G63T) I have from my Colt GT Turbo, wasn't expecting much good, as the old guy who owned it before me said it wouldn't pass emissions.

    1) Exh cam timing off by a tooth, this will ufck the emissions results a lot.
    2) 300,000km...PERFECT CYLINDERS .
    3) Cat plugged.

Very happy, and then managed to find a NOS upper engine gasket set on ebay for $31. The 2.0 stuff works but the headgasket is the wrong size, so it was a hell of a score .

I get to see Morrissey in Boston Friday...and I don't even have to pay for my ticket!

Posted on Facebook that I wanted to go, badly. A girl I know messages me and tells me that she will pay for my ticket no matter the price as long as I drive. $50 ticket purchased for me and driving done by me. Pretty rad deal if you ask me.

Six months ago I refinanced my home mortgage to a 15 yr note @ 3-5/8...thought that was awesome.

Three days ago my BIL the loan officer and I are chatting, and he tells me that rates are so ridiculous right now, it might make sense to look at it again.

BAM! Locked in @ 15 years @ 2-3/4!! All fees paid by lender, saving another $160 per month in interest. If I continue making current payment, loan will be paid off in 13yrs 8months and save another $6200 in interest. Of course I should be able to get a better return on that $160 somewhere else, just haven't thought much about it yet.

Awesome! We refinanced in Dec. With rates how they are, I'm seriously thinking about calling my mortgage broker again to see what she can do for us. If I could shave another $150-200, I'd be a pretty happy guy.

along with my new internship seems like I just landed a job at a pretty cool restaurant around the corner owned by a canadian guy who had a pretty funny show on TV. Looks like I'll be putting my freelance 3d work on hold for a bit.

This morning I was up at 5 to feed and change our 6 week old baby. I had her back to sleep by 5:45 (success in and of itself). Instead of going back to bed for 45 minutes, I decided to be productive and go for a run. Ended up getting out of the house 10 minutes earlier than normal, allowing me to bypass a good chunk of traffic and getting a great parking spot at the metro.

Today started off well. Hopefully that continues.

One recently opened up in Berlin and I had no idea until last Friday. Needless to say I was ecstatic when I found out that I no longer have to drive to West Springfield, MA to get cheap disposable tools. They're having a parking lot sale this weekend and I can't wait, lol.

I think there is one in Vernon too if you're ever on that side of the river...but I've never been so I can't be 100% sure.

    Subaru Customer service freaking rocks.

Yesterday I sent a message through mysubaru.com to customer service asking if they could tell me where to get a replacement set of fasteners for the rear seat back protectors I was installing in my car. Here is the email exchange:

Who can I talk to about getting a replacement set of clips/screws for the rear seat back protectors accessory, part# J501SAJ600. I only need the 5 clips that screw into the back of the rear seats. Is that something I can get from the dealer or directly from Subaru?

    thanks!
    iain
    I got a reply at 3:19PM today:
    Hello Iain:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Subaru of America, Inc.

I have checked with our Parts Department and there is no hardware kit for the rear seatback protector for your 2012 Outback. The clips would have been in a hardware kit. But, the only part available is the entire rear seatback protector. I am now waiting for a reply from the Accessories Engineer. I am checking with him to see if he has any extra clips available to send you five.

I am out of the office now and all day tomorrow. I will be back in touch with you by the end of the week, Iain.

    Sincerely,

    John XXX
    I replied at 3:43PM:
    John,

Thank you so much for getting back to me and trying to source replacements. I'll keep an eye out for your response.

    thanks!
    Another reply at 4:03PM:
    Hello Iain:

I was just about to leave and the Accessories Engineer stopped by with 5 clips in his hand. These clips look like tops. Please let me know if these are the right clips. Thanks.
    I replied again at 4:19PM:

    Hey John,

That's them. They should be a flat disk with a thick screw on one side and a pair of pinch clips on the other side.

    My address is :

    XXX
    XXX
    XXX

Thanks so much for finding these for me!

I'll let you know when I receive them.
    4:23PM:
    Hello Iain:

Got the correct clips. I will get them out by UPS on Thursday. The UPS guy was already here today for his afternoon pick-up. You should have them by the weekend or early next week at the latest.
Now THAT is customer motherf***ing service.

Alfa hasn't been out since June - intermittent coolant leak and no time to fix due to newborn.

So I decided to drive it to work today. Fired right up. Got me there. What more can I ask?

I haven't posted in here, but I have a small series of awesome events that I need to share (and hubby is deployed, so I can't blab his ear off):

    1. We are buying a short sale home and were approved by the bank for the purchase after waiting for 4 months! (The house needs a new roof and despite that fact, we still want the house due to size and location.)

    2. I paid off ALL of our credit card debt, so we will be buying a home and debt free. We have no car payments, either.

    3. Today my realtor called me to let me know that he convinced the sellers to put the roof on the house I'm beyond shocked and thrilled! That just saved us $14k!!!! Now we can upgrade some other things in the home!
