Just purchased 2012 Passat SEL Yesterday

I thought it would be helpful to post this info for others to compare when shopping.

How about this format -

1) Engine 2.5L
2) Transmission AT DSG
3) Trimline SEL
4) Options -spoiler,navigation, fender audio, sunroof, all weather mats, mud flaps
5) Tough Negotiating. they are selling these like hot cakes. Mud Flaps unavailable but the deater agreed to include and install when available.
6) Price including tax, title, tags $ 29,500.00 OTD approximately $ 27,000.00 before taxes, Sticker price was $29,200.00 including destination.

Wife loves it.

How'd you land that pricing? From my research that's below invoice. Did you have any loyalty rebates in there? Best I could get them is $28,900 base for basically the same trim/options. Just over $31k OTD. Sticker was $29,435

One correction to note here, 2.5L SEL's do NOT have the DSG transmission. You have a standard 6 speed automatic (fluid drive slushbox)

MY 2.5 SEL has the AT 6 speed ,sport mode/ manual shift option type transmission .
What's a DSG " I thought this was the DSG " Guess i need to pull out the owners manual & re-read

The auto in the 2.5L is the tiptronic. DSG is the automated manual (electronically controlled dual clutch) only in the TDI and 3.6.

Whenever I look at car prices from other countries, I can't help thinking how lucky you guys are. Here in Singapore, we pay close to 4x what it costs in the US due to sky high import taxes and other government disincentives to curb car ownership. For example:

RNS 510 with rear camera
18" wheels
Anti-doze warning
SGD187,000 on the road with 1 year's insurance and tax (approximately USD130,000)

That's not all, cars must either be scrapped or re-exported on or before it's 10th year.

You should consider other nav options as well. 510 is nice, but overrated. It comes with plenty of issues that may change your impression.

Base se tdi no sunroof with manual shift. They did give me a set of mojo mats $25750 plus nj sales tax and a stupid $200 doc fee which is a bunch of bull crap

Did it over the phone and via email, to nail them down on the price, no worming out of it, before driving 135 miles to pick up the car. Discussed all the other closing costs up front too, before having them email me the price, and me accepting it. Did the deal the same day I called. Stressful, very stressful, buying a new car. Salesman is great, the Closer, manager and other guys don't understand what "no" means when I told them I don't want their mechanical insurance option.
