$1500 for adding sunroof, nav, keyless entry, and dynaudio is not bad. Guess I'll be going w/ the high package now that I see actual pricing.

That's $90 more than I expected it to list at!

That's it, I'm buying a minivan instead because I don't want to be a fanboi and just take whatever they shove down my throat.

      Scotch. It's time.

Are you sure the seats are manual? Aren't they the same seats from the Autobahn GTI?

If I'm spending $36k on a Golf, I don't want to be pumping my seat lever to lift it. I may be crazy, though.

    13. 10-04-2011 04:06 PM #13
but you will probably pump it and set it once....then it probably won't move again...

This is exactly what I was expecting, $36k MSRP for a loaded 4 door, plus destination charge. It was also the most I was mentally willing to pay. Less would have been nice of course, but I really wasn't expecting that. I'm happy that it wasn't any higher, such that it would make me want to cancel my order.

Can't wait for it to get here!

Ugh, for $36K+ on the 4-door, I think I'll wind up in an STi for that. Too much.

      Scratch one here.

By the way, the KESSY system (keyless go) is the best feature I've ever had on any car I've ever owned, hands down.

Not me. The only option from the sunroof/nav package I want is the sunroof. Now, if we were getting the RNS510, then that would be great, too, but as it is, they can keep the dyna, kessy, and 315 nav. All I can say is that Tornado Red in a 2 door had better be available or I am totally giving up on this car.

Have you had KESSY? I have the RNS-315 NAV (as well as the KESSY) in my 2011 Jetta and it's a fantastic system.

Well, we have 6.25% state sales tax in Texas, but since we don't have state income tax, we get to deduct sales tax from our federal income tax. A big ticket item like a car helps.

And man, that's a lot of TAXES in one sentence.

I want the 4-door loaded version, but $40k is an awful lot of money. And there are a lot of really nice used cars to be had for the kind of cash.

i'm ok with the price of 36,090. Honestly in a world where the american dollar is worth jack squat, we're lucky it's not worse. A fully loaded civic is 27k these days.

If a 2 or 3 grand is going to scare you away from this car, then it's not for you, and that's Ok! This car is not for those who are wishing to make a smart financial decision on their car, it's an emotion car. The extra few bucks this car is over the other cars I was looking at it totally worth it for the community alone.

also, 18 bora has been posting with taxes to freak everyone out about a 40k golf. Go by your local taxes, some of, thank god, don't live in a tax and spend state! For those of you in delaware or oregon, god bless, jerks!

Not sure I understand these negative reactions about the price.

It's my understanding that the MSRPs quoted here include the $770 destination charge. Any MSRP I've ever seen includes the destination charge.

I'm not sure why people are talking about taxes. Those vary from state to state. Some states don't have them; other states, you can write them off of your federal taxes. Did anyone really think that the $35k - $36k anticipated price for the loaded 4-door would not include taxes? This is exactly in line with what we expected.

I have driven several with Kessy and really do not want it. The screen on the 315 is too small.
