Anyone as excited for this as I am?
I have literally beaten Borderlands 1 to a pulp but still can't seem to stop playing it. I've had it since release day.....![]()

i'm definitely picking it up when it hits stores, the mechanics of the first release were very nice so i'm hoping the 2nd one lives up to it![]()

I played the first one back when it was released, but for some reason got bored at around level 10ish. I just reinstalled it to play coop on the LAN, and it's a lot of fun.
I don't see too much difference with #2 though, but it's hard to tell from shaky cam videos on youtube.

Borderlands was one of the truly great games to come out in recent years...so yeah, BL2 will be a buy at some point. Assuming I can dig up my old co-op gaming group.

yeah i guess i should have said something about the co-op. that's what makes the game. the single player is meh. if you don't have a close group of friends to play with it isn't all that.

I played the first game for easily 100 hours. Soldier for life. I will definitely buy this one, but not at launch or anywhere near it.
If history repeats and it surely will, there will be plenty of DLC out and packaged in a game of the year edition that I can pick up at a discount a year later. I'll miss out on the initial mass of friends playing, but there are always a few stragglers still playing or that will go back and play it again.

My biggest issue with the game was this:
Co-op is all fun and well, but it was pointless and here is why: If you ended up playing co-op with someone who was a higher level and therefore all of the baddies were a higher level than you could deal with - so you got creamed. Even if you finished a battle, you couldn't use any of the loot from the baddies because you were not personally a high enough level to use it. So it either lay there forgotten or you could keep it in your inventory taking up space until you got to that level. Even once I leveled up, I routinely found that the higher level guns that I had picked up did negligently more damage or effects than what I already had.
Single player was no different than any other FPS game out there, only cell shaded - it didn't offer anything new - go kill this guy, go fetch these parts, etc.

well that goes with any game you play. even if your co-op friend is the same level everything gets harder. yeah a lot of the stuff you pick up isn't any better than what you have so sometimes looting becomes pointless other than farming for money.
you have to remember that when you're playing with people with higher levels than you that they join your games. if you join their games then all of the quests that you have left to do you won't be able to complete because they have already done them. if they join yours they can assist you on your quests and power level you so you can catch up faster by killing everything for you. i never had a problem with that.
i guess i'm kind of used to imbalance and pointless looting at times because i played WoW for so many years..

My complaint about playing with a spread in the levels between players was how a difference of 5+ levels lower than the team rendered you absolutely useless. If you were lower or a significantly lower level you'd hardly do any damage and most enemies would knock your shields off and take a good chunk of your health with it (if not kill you completely). I hope they adjust that.

First one was amazing. I agree though, you need people to play with. I had it on 360 and only put a few hours on it. Then I repurchased it with all the DLC on a steam sale not too long ago and played with a few people, and it was a whole new game, and tons of fun. I logged more than 60 hours on it in the course of a month.
Can't wait for BL2.

Got the first one on Steam and played quite a bit with SOAR and Unbanned_Gerbil. Definitely a fun game but I kind of wonder if it's worth it to get right away or wait again till the GOTY edition goes really cheap.

I hope they incorporate something that will allow user that have finished the first one to bring over skills, weapons and other stuff.
#24
Since the classes are different, I doubt it. Would be nice if you got some perks, or weapons or unlocks etc. I doubt any genuine gear would pass over.

I wouldn't want to start out with my high level character and all his gear anyways. That ruins half the fun.
#26
Agreed completely, I wouldn't want to bring over my character from the first one. Maybe some of my super rare guns though....![]()

Holy crap that's like everything people actually wanted/complained about. Now they just need to make me not feel the need to collect every weapon or give me unlimited backpack space.

Show me a better, more genuinely entertaining Co-Op FPS which didn't s_ck monkey balls...every game has it's flaws. But in a market where most games are COD re-hashes it was a seriously welcome break.

I love Borderlands! I don't know exactly why I got hooked on it, but I did! I'm glad to hear that a sequel will be coming!
