I talked to my sales person today and I asked for a commission number, he replied with

"Hi, your factory order is in the vw system. I have no commission number at this time. I will let you know of any changes"

Does this mean that I do not have a car on order yet? This is confusing... should I head to another dealer or do you think he was just to lazy to look in the system?

Thoughts?

You get a commission number as soon as the order is put in the system. Even if the factory has not yet picked up the order. It sounds like he's either clueless or too lazy to look it up. I'd keep bugging him

The first letter is really a sequence number -- the "L" orders were entered before the "M" ones, and "N" (when we get to them) will be later than "M".

Only the dealer that placed the order can see the estimated production and delivery dates.

According to the ship schedule, it seems that theres a ship that loads in germany on the 28th/29th and then departs for Brunswick GA on the 10th and Houston TX on the 14th. I seem to recall somebody else saying that all the Rs may come in through the Houston port which kind of adds significance to the 14th. However, if the northeast ones unload in Georgia, that could explain the ship being at the port on the 10th but not unloading till the 14th. In either case, this shipping schedule and what some poeple have said indicates that our cars could be well on the way to the dealer by the middle of December. Which sounds like a legit possibility of getting the car before January, which means that "End of Dec/Early January" delivery dates that we've been hearing all along could very well be plausible. End of December for the very first cars and the rest in January.

The "January 16th" delivery date people might have a LOT of extra time worked into it just so theres no chance the car could be late. Despite the complexity of the logistics of car delivery, it just seems like they could definitely get the first cars here a couple weeks before that.

If anybody has any reasoning to shoot that down, feel free to. I realize they could always end up being way off schedule in manufacturing, but I think IF they're on schedule, it shouldn't take till the middle of Jan. to get it.

I'm expecting that the cars will be held at port to try and have them show up roughly the same time. If they don't well then that's just icing.
