Last summer I bought one of the suction cup mounts for the GoPro we have at work and it has been the best accessory we bought for that thing yet. Really perfect for in/on car filming
Thanks all, still a lot to do, but it's slowly getting there. Mainly need to sort that warmup/flooding whatever issue, fix some air leaks and some oil leaks, wire up the cooling fan stuff, and it is "road worthy". Bad part is I am already thinking about my next projects to line up.. yikes!![]()

Have a few projects in mind.. most aren't mk1 related and some are easier than others to obtain... might need to sell a car or two off again to make room eventually..
in no particular order..
30-50's DKW or NSU motorcycle
C1 Audi Coupe' S
50 Plymouth Concord Fastback
Early Canadian Spec Mk1 Golf GTI

In no way would I copy Danny's car. One of my fav Mk1's in North America for sure.. I'd be going with a off-the-wall small displacement, more "spirited driver" type build.. but that's really only if one falls in my lap
That list is off the wall because of the wide circles of cars and bikes I get to deal with at work and in my travels. Some of them I already have an eye on.. just need to finish some other things first![]()

Well that was fun. Thanks for taking us for a ride.

When I had the Walbro in my VRT, everyone wondered how I could deal with its whine. I actually liked knowing that if I no longer heard it I was either deeeeeeep into boost or it died and **** was about to go real bad![]()

I have a mk1 fuel pump insulator that kris gave me. It works really well. Here is one... I can't find a pic of the one for a mk1. I am sure it would help:

I actually just imagined what a neon, built by you, would look like. It was scary.
It's awesome to see an in car vid! Loved the feel of the boring, bland, swallowtail vw interior, with that vr5 rumble. They fit so perfectly together.

Thanks! Just spent valuable time I could have been working on my rabbit to read this entire build thread. Very cool story and very encouraging.I saved mine from getting crushed at the salvage yard also.

Late last week I sent my ecu back to the guys at C2 to have them do a little more tweaking, while I'm waiting for that to get back I decided to work on getting my fan mounted and the fan switch. I decided to make a low profile fan shroud.
Started with a flat piece of aluminized steel cut to shape, then used my Eastwood Versa Cut plasma cutter on 110V to cut the open for the fan to pull air through. I then made holes around the shroud with my greenlee hole cutter. Makes really clean cuts with no clean-up in the metal. I finally drilled holes to mount the fan and shroud to the rad and painted it all with High Gloss Chassis Black. I forgot to get pics, but I decided to use an adjustable probe-style fan switch which I mount under the rad. Just need to run 2 more wires and the cooling system is done for now. I'll be switching to the heat shrink hose clamps once I drive it a little to make sure everything jives.

Looks good. But why not mount the fan on the front instead to clean up the bay a bit more?

I remember you saying there was also a 2-door Ocean blue you were building, whatever happened to that car?

Sitting in the garage under a cover. I slowly tinker with it now and again. Once I get back from my first trip to Europe this summer I'll be putting in a bunch more work on it. Much more time consuming when most of the "key" parts for it are pretty hard to find items that I can't just order from BFI or something.. also tough when everything needs to be new, chrome, stainless, or powder coated. Also stressful as hell to work on!
