      Who is watching?

The first episode in prison was kind of a waste. I know they had to explain where he has been but the 2nd episode really got back in the groove.

Another wholesale cast change to reduce salary. I'm on the fence about Charlyne Yi as she is kind of annoying but at the same time, her character presents lots of opportunity for House one-liners.

Also looks like 13 will return... that's a bonus. Not sure if it is for the whole season though.

The rest of the cast do come back in future episodes. They took the salary hit, unlike Edelstein who jumped ship.

I'd prefer Amber Tamblyn to Charlyne Yi, unless Yi becomes a stoner.

I liked the prison episode - kinda like Shawshank House. I could see that as a new direction for the character.

Wilson is a Milquetoast, hating then re-liking House within a single episode. Way to play the arc.

Foreman as hospital admin makes sense, though I miss Cuddy already.

There were moments last night, however, when I was wondering why the show is still on the air. Maybe this really is the final season...

I never liked Edelstein, so that's an improvement as far as I am concerned. I thought the series was pretty much running on fumes last season, but I like the stark, solitary, stripped-down look of the new season. It just feels gritty.

I'm in agreement with the rawness so far. Hopefully they keep the tension up, because that's been missing for quite some time. A new love interest would be cool.

Anybody catch the witty "it's not lupus" references in the first two shows. Cheeky writers.

i definitely laughed each time they brought up lupus.

and i also really liked the first episode. i missed the beginning of the second episode because of the MLB game, but it was alright too. the Yi girl will always be the stoned girl from knocked up to me, so it's hard to see her in this role.

the hot female prison doctor, on the other hand...

always been a house fan, and i can also see this being the last season; which i'd be alright with.
      welcome to the layer cake

      Too bad Edelstein is gone.

They should have kept him in prison for more than 1 episode, just like in a past season, they should have kept House in the asylum longer.

I took this off of my DVR this year. Got through the first three episodes, but Im getting tired of the revolving support characters... and the new asian chick is especially ridiculous and annoying.

Both myself and my wife just looked at each other when they did that, especially when she talked about the cornering feature of the car. We were like "did they really just do that?" And then the first commercial afterwards was of course Ford and made note of how it was the sponsor of tonight's House episode.

On a car-related subject did anyone else see that House either a) had the Dynasty rebuilt or b) got a "new" one? I thought the old one was trashed when he wrecked his way through Cuddy's front living room?

His Dynasty is a tank. No house stands a chance against it, just hose off the dust and carry on.

Hey, I never really watched house but always wanted too. My question is should I start with episode 1 or just jump right in to it now?

Start at the beginning to understand the back stories.
Where they are now is not how it started, and the best episodes are in the past.

      House's wife is hot.

In a series-ending cop-out, the writers decided to give Wilson cancer. With only a handful of episodes left, they'll probably kill him off.

I read about it... lame. I figured they would just go with House dying to end the show. Having Chase make out with the Asian chick was a total for me.

I also liked how his wife was reading theoretical physics books and discussing it with him while at the gun range. Where can I find me a smokin hot Russian bride who enjoys those things?!

TV medical drama “House“ ends on a bittersweet note this month in a series finale titled “Everybody Dies” that sees cantankerous but brilliant Dr. Gregory House examining his future and personal demons, show creator David Shore said on Thursday.

But Shore refused to give details of the final episode, or how returning characters including doctors Alison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), Remy “Thirteen” Hadley (Olivia Wilde) or the dead Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn) will make their mark as “House” ends its run after eight years.

“It is definitely an ending. I don’t want to say more than that. We never do happy endings but we also try not to simply do miserable endings. Bittersweet is the most you can hope for,” Shore told reporters ahead of the two-hour series finale on May 21.

“It’s about House assessing his future,” Shore said. “We developed the idea for the final episode months and months ago ... It allowed us to explore the nature of House’s character and it also allowed us to naturally bring back other people.”

The title of the series finale also is a nod to 2004’s first episode of the Emmy award-winning show called “Everybody Lies“ - a phrase that became the mantra for British actor Hugh Laurie’s misanthropic, rule-breaking diagnostician in his bid to solve medical puzzles.

“House” was named the most popular current TV show in the world in the 2012 edition of the Guinness World Records. It has an estimated audience of 81.8 million people in 66 countries.

Shore said he envisioned no endgame in mind when he created the series eight years ago, calling the idea of a mapped-out finale at that stage “incredibly pompous” in the fickle world of television.

And he said he had few regrets about key cast changes over the years and storylines that have seen House in prison, in rehab, and even in love, most controversially with his boss, hospital administrator Dr. Lisa Cuddy, played by Lisa Edelstein.

Edelstein, who left the show last year as her love affair with House turned sour, won’t be returning for the last episode.

But Shore on Thursday defended the storyline that finally brought the two characters together.

“I know a lot of people thought we should have done it better, a lot of people thought we shouldn’t have done it, a lot of people thought we should have kept them together. It’s been a bit of a lightning rod. I’m not saying we did everything perfect ... But fundamentally we had to (put them together). You can’t have sexual tension go on and on and on,” he said.

He also declined to elaborate on how the character of Kutner - who was found shot to death three years ago - and those of Cameron, Thirteen and Masters (Amber Tamblyn) would re-appear in the final episode.

As to who will die? Stay tuned for the May 21 finale on Fox television and a one-hour retrospective of clips and interviews with the show’s stars and producers.

      Any speculation on the ending?
It's only a one hour finale , not two (the first hour is a series retrospective).

House wakes up from a dream in the late 1800s England, and realizes he is prince George this whole time.

Wow. A happy ending (at least, happy in the House universe).

Nice to see Amber and Cameron.

Wilson was still terminal with cancer with 5 months to live, and left the hospital to enjoy his remaining days.
House faked his own death to be with Wilson to the end.
They rode off on motorcycles, touring the country.
Also, Chase replaced House as head of diagnostics.
