[Doctor Meat Does Housecalls]

4000+ posts later I guess I should post my build. It's not all that much, but whenever I have an extra dollar I put it straight into my car. I'm only happy when I spend money on the car, so I try to spend it right. A lot of reading and pics, so if you don't like either, scroll to the bottom for newest pics and mods.

I bought it in June of 2010.
It's a 2001 Jetta 1.8T
5 Speed
93,000mi



Drove it from Boston to Atlantic City on a tank of gas. My all time record:


Went to school. Didn't have much time to do anything, but I took a sh*tload of pics because I was happy of my "awesome new car."





Was working one night and my downpipe decided to take a sh*t on me. Drove in limp mode all weekend then got a custom bent 2.5" turbo back exhaust.

2.5" DP
High flow cat.
Unresonated.
Magnaflow muffler.
Stainless tip he had lying around the shop. Filled the valance surprisingly well.





Fall came and the rubber on my LB's looked as if I drove through a construction zone.
Got a wax and wash in before Winter.




Then the rubber took a dump. Couldn't afford new tires so I found 15" OEM wheels with brand new Blizzaks for $300 on craigslist. I couldn't pass it up.



Then I mounted them.

Drove them through the winter. Filled them every 3 days.








ENTER Spring 2011:
(this is where I started to actually do work)


Trashy MKIII wheels came off. I refinished my LB's and got some Eagle GT's (225/45/17). I love them. First all season tire I've had and I hate that they stopped producing them.















Custom center caps are finally growing on me, but they're still meh.






Got a roof rack off of asneakypanda while I was at it. Modified the maple rack he gave me with it. Drilled the bars out to accept my custom mounts for my fairing. Cut the hardware, drilled it out, and mounted my Thule 555 I got on ebay for $50.





Stickerbombed it.





Custom mounts. Dumped the wood to refinish it.

More stickers.






My car runs best at 90º angles.

Got tired of my grey stained interior. Went to Jo-Anne's and bought 5 yards of fabric. (WAY TOO MUCH!)





Finished product:









Still haven't done the headliner. I'm going to be doing navy camo/black combo. The plastic pieces are all going to be black, as well as the sunroof visor, sunroof motor cover (?), and the trim around the doors.

Got an OEM hood bra for $10. BNIB.


Wheels got new Eagle GT's and a stage 2 refresh + new front valance. (old one was in pieces from the previous owner)





Used my roofrack.



Sanded and painted my grilled black:




Streetlines showed up:




Spent 3 months in the box ready to go and then finally got them on last week:








Fixed my hood latch and installed my ECS XAS:

Haha. I got it on craigslist. This guy had a whole bunch of junk parts from random cars in his garage. He was asking $100, and I told him I'd give him $50 for it. He told me no and in a week called me back and told me he'd rather give it to me for $50 than his ******* neighbor for $75. So I drove down and picked it up.

Then I sold the bumper bra (which I should of kept for long drives...) For $40 shipped to another member here, untouched in the original box.

Just have to keep your eyes open. Deals will come around. When I first bought mine, no one wanted them. Now everyone does.
