Bad fender gone!


New fender on!


There's actually a short story to that fender. Spent the day junkyard crawling and found a pretty rusted out cabby. That fender was the only piece that wasnt rusted out... so took it off and went to pay. The guy at the counter spoke almost no english and wanted 25euro. I asked him if he took cards, he said yeah, but then asked if i had USD which i did, and he said $15. Quickly gave him a $20 he handed me back 5euro, asked if that was ok. I said yup! and quickly walked out. He obviously screwed up on his exchange rate math.






Currently on the way are:

Cable linkage
Jet kit
new black carpet interior
new door cards

I hope to have the car running in the next 2-3 weeks before it begins to snow.

But yeah... I'm still working on the carbs for my car. I've got everything ready except the carbs themselves. Crap, I've got six of them now... but none to make my car go.....

been very busy with work to do much of anything. Also its starting to look like the garage i was going to get is falling thru. That and the fact that Kapaun is closing down come Jan 14th is leading me to believe that the nonop lot will be gone... thus putting me in a ****ty situation.

if anyone knows of anyone (yourself/fellow worker/german) that has a garage available that i can restore the car at, i would greatly appreciate it.

I doubt they will be doing away with the non-op lot...it's always been there. They may just hand it over to another Services/MWR facility to take care of.

Hinshu is pretty busy with some new stuff at work. I will fill you in the best possible....The car was last seen on trailer behind my SUV headed out of town........that is all for now. If Hinshu wants to throw more info out there he can, but I think he should keep it private until you guys see the finished product! All I can say is, it is going to be an amazing MKI when it's finished!

As said, the AF has kept me pretty tasked saturated. The car was towed down to Jorg's shop in Saarbrucken, to get his royal treatment. If any of you know him, and his work, you know the finished product will be nothing less than pure epicness.

I have seen his work first hand... and I can't wait to see the outcome! Hope to get my MK2 down to him before too long for some VR swappin!
