I stumbled onto the opening of the Malaysian Moto GP while channel surfing. Decided to watch with wife and was really enjoying it. Lap two saw the accident and said this guy will not make it.

    RIP Marco Simoncelli

Just 24 years old! What a tragedy!
At least they did the honorable thing and suspended the race!

Terrible crash. What a shame. You could tell crutchlow and Rossi were shaken up.

People don't realize how fast racing at the professional level is.

I'm not sure if it was Marco who bump into another rider on the parade lap before the race, although it seemed unintentional. It looked like a million tons of brain info downloading into his helmet (spacing out). If it was him, then it was something that could easily throw off anyones concentration for a split second and come out of it too F'ng late.

At least Lewis Hamilton wouldn't be in that condition now that Nicole Scherzinger won't be in the pits jumping up and down yelling "come on baby, baybeh, baybeh" since it's official they are not a couple.

I just watched a video of the crash. Holy Cow! Looks like he was trying to hang onto the side of the bike when the other two hit. Vale almost got wiped out as well!
What a freak accident. So sad!!

    What?

During the parade lap before the start, a rider (not sure if it was Marco) made contact with another rider almost causing them to crash before it even started. Too many things in his mind it seems, I witnessed a precursor of what would happen in lap 2 if he was that rider.
That reminded me how LH season of crashing, having too many things in his mind, before, during and after his race, now he has less to think of. Just don't want to see F1 end the year claiming any driver for that matter. Like Dave Despane mentioned he was trying to salvage (hanging on waiting for it to stop and get it back up) his ride when he should have just let go and walked away from it.

Looked liked it was Rossi's bike that dealt the fatal blow...

Marco had so much promise too... RIP.

Rossi or Edwards? That doesn't matter. I think his helmet was not locked

It seemed as though Edwards hit him in the upper back and perhaps dislodged his helmet, then Rossi hit him right in the head/neck. What a shame. He was a really promising rider.

That was on instance where it would have been good if his front tire had NOT regained grip. ugh...

I had heard that the strap come undone where it anchors to the helmet.
