That is seriously cool. I love small cars like that. So much fun to toss around.
I would have avoided the addition of nitrous, but that's just personal preference.
I love the look of that car though.

Here's another car from my automotive past. It was the first car I ever owned. If I recall it was $8999 out the door with option A/C!

73 MPH through the cones!!! I remember this aticle, and I wanted to do all this to my '90 GT...it was a great car. Mine succumbed to rust/rot, but it was a very fun, reliable car. Traded it for a B3 Passat, which was also a great car, if not in an entirely different direction.

I recall that article as well. It prompted me to buy a '91 w/o AC for $7,900.
It needed new front wheel bearings at 40,000 miles, and the 1st to 2d syncromesh on mine wasn't great even after I had it replaced somewhere around 50,000 miles.
I once calculated a 42mpg gallon tank when I kept the speed down for a very long time, but typically the engine spent a lot of time approaching the redline, and returned low 30s. It was subjectively the most fun car I've ever had, an old MGB being a close second.
ChrisV had one and did some interesting things to it.

Test drove one, and it was like sitting in a fishbowl.
