Those should be fine.

I posted in the technical forum but I figure you guys here know best. I think I've decided on what wheels to get.
Q7 Replicas
But I'm not sure if this fits the car. I will lower the car on coilovers but I'd like to keep the ride comfortable and not have to worry about rubbing or scratching the car. Any ideas?

There has been discussion on this, look in some of the other threads about rims. It will depend on how low you go of course. Some folks are saying 255/40 is good but others are going 245/40 or 35. I believe you can pm one of the tire rack guys on here for assistance.

that replica is a 20x9. I don't want a stretch. 245 vs 255? any pros and cons?

I run 255/35/20 on a 20x9 wheel on my Tiguan and there's no stretch. I don't believe there would be with 245 either.

Thanks Tiggy! Is 35 too much rubber? Does it look fat if it used on a sedan?

I finally got my car and I was making some measurements for the 20x9 wheels. The Passat looks like it has a lot of room but when I turned the wheels to see how close it is to the car, there wasn't much room, less than 1" to the inside of the wheel well and the suspension. Is this normal? I'll be lowering the car on coilovers and I want to make sure this fits.

Cheapa,
MREURO already posted a pic of a Passat on a 20x8.5, 35MM offset with a 245... and it looks fine. Offsets and tire size have alot to do with it. I think there will be plenty of room, keep in mind your 20" wheel with a 245/35/20 as an example, has vitrually (within 1%) the same overal diameter as a 235/45/18.
Where are the full pics of your ride.. dont hold out on us.

Yeah, I saw that. my wheel is 20x9 with 40mm offset and I plan to get 245/30/20. I honestly don't understand offset enough to see if it's comparable. I used a calculator on RimnTires.com and it seems it will fit, but the measurements I took looked like there wasn't much room. Thanks for the info. This is my first time getting something that hasn't been done before. I've gotten wheels before but 19" and it was fitted on the same car by many other people before me. Thanks again!
I'll post more pics this weekend.![]()

hmmm.... 20x9 et:40 you might be ok....
we just did 20" on a passat but its not what i would do....
we did 20x8.5 et:35 and i think that is way to aggressive for me.
I don't think that you might be able to lower the car with those wheels.

I just put a set of 20x8.5" with a 45 mm offset (255/35/20 tires)on my B7 and I can tell you that they fit but are pushed out all the way to the edges. The front tire is almost flush with the fender and the rear needed an 8mm (5mm might be better but I had the 8)spacer on it to match the fronts. With the tires they are pretty much flush.
According to my calcuations with the stock 17" wheels on the car, If you change to the 20 x9's and a 40 mm offset you will be adding 27mm additional wheel towards the outside of the car.
IMO I dont think the 20x9's will fit or look right, especially on the front, they will stick out past the edges of the car and not allow you to lower the car in the future unless you camber the hell out of the wheels.

Any pics of your ride.... several of us are looking to run a 20" wheel here pretty soon.
Also, on your calculations... a 20x9 with a 40mm offset would be 1/2" wider than your setup, 1/4" on each side, plus the 5MM so it should only be approx 12MM further out, not 27. Still might be too aggressive though.

No pics yet...soon thou, probably tomorrow. And the 27mm is based on the stock wheels....27mm pushed out towards the outside.

here is a very good site to calculate wheel/tire size for proper speed calibration.

I went with the Roderick Wheels RW6 20x8.5 with a 45mm offset

I used this calculator and this is the info I got:
http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.j...&text1=&text2=
I am definitely lowering the car, not too much, but I don't want to look like a 4x4. There are a few CC's running these wheels that I want 20x9 et40 and lowered and they are fine. I wonder if the space in the wheel well is the same in the CC vs B7 Passat.
and yes, please post pics of the B7 running 20's, I think we are all waiting for more info and pics.

So after mreuro got his new wheels, I have a better idea of what might fit. I'm using the rim n tires calculator to compare mreuro's new OZ wheels, vs the black car in his thread with TSW 20", and my potential wheel.
What do you guys thing? Andy, do you think you have a few mm left until the tires hit the fenders?
