I even made the notches in the frame in the rear bigger for those new 3/8's fittings.

Yeah I paid the $140 to have it done. Basically 114.3 to 112 is so minimal, all they did was basically oval out the bolt holes. Which was fine once I had hubrings and all that.

    Tuesday: 3 days before H2O.

Oh you know, just doing a quick oil change on the car at work before the long drive from Cincinnati to Ocean City, and found a slight blemish in my right rear bag.

Didnt really worry too much about it. So I dropped the car down and one of the other technicians at work wanted to see how the air suspension worked. So without even thinking about it, I opened the door, and reached in and aired her out.

All of the sudden I noticed the car wasnt sitting even and just wasnt sure what was going on so I aired back up, shut the door, and to my surprise....

    BAM crushed door panel.

Aired the damn car out with the door over top of the arm on the lift. Something I never even thought about happening haha.

I was pretty sure this was going to ruin my trip to H2O but luckily I've got an awesome parts guy that was on his game on getting me a new panel, brackets, and both rubstrips.

    Thursday: 1 Day until H2O

Got the new door skin in at 8:30AM. So the old one was ripped off and the brackets were glued to the new panel. The skin had to sit for a few hours and set before it could be attached to the car.

And then after it was all up and ready to go. Minus the door handle, and the rubstrips.

So at 3:30PM the car was off to paint. Luckily I have a hook up and got the painter to do a quick side job for me.

    Friday: Day 1 of H2O

Picked the car up at 4:00PM and headed off for the 12 hour drive to H2O.

Drove straight through the night with no sleep and showed up at about 10AM. And went straight to the APR BBQ with my new door skin and fresh paint lookin sexy.

(Pics from the Convention Center on Saturday afternoon)

Had a great night out on Saturday and then at the show on Sunday. Made sure I had some margaritas on the beach before I left

I didnt really take any pictures of the car because there was so much other stuff to look at haha. But here are a few.

And mad props to Euromedian for this shot!

LOOK at that sexy a$$ new paint

And another sexy mk5 that I spotted

So a week after H2O, I helped my buddy Kevin installed the autopilot digital air kit on his mk5 rabbit. After about 5 seconds of playing with it, I decided that manual management wasnt going to work anymore for me and the winter was perfect time to upgrade. So the wheels were already up for sale.

So a local hit me up and offered me a trade + cash for the RS's. It was an offer that I couldnt refuse and I had to make it happen.

So back onto Flat fives I was hahahaha

Dude your car/wheel combo grows more on me every time I see it. I think I might look into getting a new set for Christmas

As for hard lines, I made some up for the new setup but I haven't got around to trying to hook em up or anything.

I've thought about getting racing seats and having them upholstered in leather. I think that would be dope.

Thanks man. You start off by stripping it down completely with aircraft stripper, sand through all grits from 180 to 1500, changing directions each time. Then polish it out with some aluminum polish. Super basic to understand but it's a lot of work.

You're gonna have to help me decide to make the new wheels cream completely or to keep them silver or polished. More than likely the Nue's.

I know you have a hookup as you are a tech at a dealership but how much do those rubstrips go for?

I'm OCD and mine have some very trivial imperfections (you can tell PO would fling his door open ) and was considering repainting them. But if the price is right (I also have a hookup at a dealership lol), I may just opt to get new ones, in candy white of course.

It would only be the front rubstrips - the ones on the doors, not the ones on the rear quarter panels.

Cream RS' looked great on your car dude. Keep it up.

That would be lovely. Feel free to give me the price that you get as a dealership employee as that is the price I'd likely get as well. Part number(s) would be awesome too. Thanks bud.
