Started with a 95 Honda Civic Ex (Used with 65k on it, did nothing to it)
Had that car from when I was 14 to 18. Then got a 03 Mini Cooper (Used 38k on it, lightly moded) sold that after having it for 3 years. Then brought my current car an 06 VW GTI with 23k on it (went from stock to APR stage 2+ over the course of almost 4 years)
I had a couple cars in between: a 88 jetta I paid $50 for a stuck a $35 head gasket in it. A 1993 Pontiac Sunfire paid $300 took out the bad 3.1 and put a free 3.1 in it and sold it for $1000.
The Golf R will be my first brand new car. I came close to buying a 2007 or 8 GTI for 25k

As a denizen of the now defunct communist paradise east of the Berlin wall i could have acquired a car around age 40. I escaped in my 20ies and got into this series:
1. 1990 Isuzu Impulse Turbo Coupe, handling by Lotus. I swear to God i did not want any other car, until my feet literally fell through the rusted floor.
Loved her so much!
2. 2000 GTI VR6, the worst car ever, period, between the
drunken tuning leaving it with a tendency to want to roll
over the front end in turns, and the gastarbeiter who sabotaged
the computer wiring so car dies off the lot, then 2 other ECUs
until they found the skilfully constructed salt bridge short integrated
into the harness that Kaputed the computers, photos of it went all the way
to Germany and Istanbul
3. 2002 SAAB 9-3 Aero 25th Anniversary Edition, last of
the real hatch SAABs, torque steered like a drunk hooker,
awesome thrilling ride. Saved my life in a wreck that would
have been fatal in many other cars, and totaled in process.
4. 2003 Passat GLX, loaded to the hilt with 5 speed MT, one
of the last MT Passats, boring as HELL.
5. 2004 R32, the gateway drug to 0-60 in 6ish cars. No more
halfaxx rides after this one, baby came so more sedans.
6. 2006 S60R, dim lights, huuge turn radius, loved every moment,
awesome car, the last driver's Volvo, after the 2-pedal catering started.
7. 2008 TurboX, a real gem, splendid driver, summer and winter, spent
three months in service in 3 years. The best dealer support, still a lease
return at warranty end.
8. 2012 S4, creme de la creme for the 3 pedal AWD enthusiast with a family.
One of the most researched cars, and the first new car i ever owned, this one
will be driven until my heel hits the tarmac
Would have waited for the 5 door R with 6MT if i had more time, but lease extension not possible past 3 mos, then i said WTF i only live once, fellow Audiziner clocked 4.4s on a dragstrip no mods, and i believe him, this monster plain scares me sometimes when i forget to think when driving it![]()

My super leet mods, cosmetic/touch/feel only for negligible Vortex cred: HPA dogbone mount, Dieselgeek short-shifter, aluminum look glovebox handle, R logo seat handle inserts, OEM LED tail lights, smoked side markers, and LED interior lighting.

This is the first time I've seen this thread. Some great cars in here. Here's my list (I don't have a very good picture of the ZR-1, sorry):
1991 Nissan 300ZX Non-Turbo 5-Speed Pearl Yellow (1 of ~470) - Purchased used at 23,000 miles, sold at 45,000 miles.
2001 BMW 325ci Automatic - Purchased used at 18,000 miles, sold at 30,000 miles.
2006 Pontiac GTO 6.0L LS2 6-Speed Quicksilver - Purchased used at 13,000 miles, sold at 24,000 miles.
1994 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 Admiral Blue Metallic, Gray Interior - 1 of 11 - Purchased used at 8,000 miles. Still has roughly 8,000 miles. This is a garage queen and is one of my dream cars. My dad used to own one when I was a kid. His was a 1995 bought brand new in the same color but with black interior and was 1 of 4. He traded it in on a 1996 Dodge Viper GTS. The only picture I have of it on this computer is with my GTO. Here it is:

But, the one that brought me the most pleasure, and the one that ALWAYS puts a huge grin on my face is my '04 R32:

Started off in a 96 or so Dodge Caravan on it's last leg.
Then bought a 93 Mazda MX-3 on the cheap, and it didn't last long.
Then got a 2002 Civic LX. After the 3rd auto trans failed I fixed it and gave it to my sister.
Then I got my 2002 AWP 1.8T Jetta. 3" downpipe for exhaust, CAI, DV, Boost gauge, APR flash and custom tune with their software, and 255lph fuel pump when stocker couldn't keep up to my "testing" of the K03s. Totalled when I swerved a deer at high speed (on stock suspension and 195 tires).
Then got a 1999 Civic EX with a manual trans to beat up on in Georgia and Michigan for school. And did the car take a beating. Replaced a spindle, tail light, screwed a mirror and back bumper back on, had about 90* free play in steering wheel so converted to manual rack cuz it was shot along with tie rods etc.. new trans after diff took a crap (under 3rd part warranty) and new engine ~800 miles after the trans covered on the transmission shops' dime because they never put oil back in the car after replacing the rear main seal. Various bumps/humps/dents on the floor due to off-roading/mudding![]()
2002 24v VR6 GTI was next. C2 tune, TT downpipe and full exhaust, FK sport plus coil overs, good rubber, motor mounts, short shifter, custom intake, and a bunch of other small stuff. Totalled due to retarded drivers on retardedly stupid road design in Dallas when a Jeep rear-ended me while stopped behind traffic.
Currently driving a 1992 Corrado SLC (VR6) that is giving me more headaches than anything. Was thinking about making it a project/track car, but just keeping it running right is a project of it's own. Have spent nearly what I paid for it in the past 4 months just trying to keep it on the road. Will post it for sale as soon as I get the R, and if it doens't sell I'll film it being crushed.
Hopefully in the future I'll have another VR6 powered toy.
2002.5 Jetta 1.8T - TOTALED (dodging deer)
2002.5 24v GTI - TOTALED (rear-ended by a Jeep)
1992 Corrado SLC - The toy & DD
2012 Golf R - The weekender

Thanks!
I sold the GTO after I realized that the R was every car I will ever need (for a while anyway). I was planning to keep both and drive the R every day and only drive the GTO on the weekends and to the track... then I realized the R was a much nicer and better car in every way, so that made no sense.

I can't believe how many cars you guys have owned.
I wasn't gonna post cause I don't have an R, but compared to you guys:
1993 Civic EX 5 spd
1997 Integra GSR sedan
1995 BMW 325i 5 spd
2004 BMW 330i ZHP 6spd
That's it. I loved every car - was hard to part with them. can't imagine parting with 15 cars.

Also not (yet) an R owner, but I'll play. I'm apparently a car loyalist compared to some of y'all... I've only had 3 cars in my 33 years!
1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer (stock, parents purchased new in 1994 when I turned 16, sold in 2004)
1998 Accord V6 4-door Purchased used in 2004, upgraded the stereo and had it re-painted after a big hailstorm so it looked fan-freaking-tastic after 130k miles. Sold in 2007.
2007 MkV GTI, bought new in 2007, no mods, pictures taken last saturday (April 7).
