Hi everyone. I am looking for photos of Passats with AUDI's S6 DRL LEDs installed. I am planning to change my Philips DRL and install an S6 DRL LEDs. What I want to see before I buy them, is how big they are (how much space do they get) and if their curvature matches the curvature of the grill.

I know that I will have to get rid of the fogs, but it is something that I will do, since I am going to run the DRL through fogs' connections (+some VCDS coding).

So, any photos out there with installed S6 DRL LEDs? I would much appreciate some very close pics to check the curvature. Thanks in advance!

I dont think any passat owner has done it.. that I can remember.. I have seen plenty of MK5 GTIs and R32s with them. They are pretty expensive.. around 450 or so last time i checked..

You will need to buy the regular grills if you plan to remove the Fog lights.. and you Will need to modify it.. it shoud fit though.

check out tmtuning.. they have the OEM S6 LEDs.. they also have another version which is made in germany and they run around 280 bucks.

I found a cheaper set on ebay.. they run around 100 bucks and look like they are the best price for what you get. They do sell cheap ones for like 20 bucks but from my searching.. these were the best bang for the buck. I cant even find them anymore to be honest but some guy installed them and they seemed good..

I have found a couple of photos in the net, but none is from close and with the LEDs OFF, so I can check how do they fit...

As about the price, I found the OEM ones in German ebay for 220 Euros (300$) which are smoked as well...

TM Tuning sells them (non smoked) for 700$!!!

The non-OEM are chinese crap IMO, so they don't worth the money... As about the grill, I know that I will have to change it, and I am going to get the R-Line grill.

As about those in your link, is 99% what I have now. The are VERY bright (like OEM DRL LEDs) but they are straight (not with curvature), small and when they are OFF, they are too white for me, who I want to keep the front end quite dark (except the main grill).

These will not fit your bumper. Eventhough ECS Tuning calls them R-Line they are the R36 grilles. Check out this thread. It shows pictures comparing them to the stock grilles.

I am not going to sell them. I will keep them in case the next car owner wants the fog setup instead of the DRL LEDs...

The photo in my first post, is just for reference because I couldn't find the one that I wanted to. There are grilles for our bumper (for the R-Line version - at least in Europe) without fogs. They are like the following but without fogs...

Just trying to save you from ordering something that won't work. If there are in fact R-Line grilles with no fogs in Europe thats cool. ECS Tuning need to revise their website cause this comes up about every other month with people thinking those grilles would work on the stock bumper.

I have seen these but I want to have the OEM ones, which are bigger, more curved and smoked...

At the end, I think that I just have to go for it and check it by myself!!!

X2 on those grill you posted.. those are NOT for the B6 with OEM bumper.. they Will not fit.

VW does NOT sell R line Grills with out the fog light holes.. I looked into this because I wanted to remove my fogs and just haeve the LEDs. All the Rline grills have the hole for the fog light..

Nikos can you please post up some pics of your current Philips set up?

Im currently thinking of doing this mod, and not sure which ones to go for the 5 or 8 LED ones....

Id like to see how they fit in the grills.....

It would be very much appreciated.

I'd like pics of them on & off please? Are you not happy with yours at all?

As I have written above, there are 3 points that I don't like.
    1. They look a bit small.
    2. They are straight and don't follow the curvature of the grille.
    3. When the car is stopped and the LEDs are OFF, they are too bright and stand out too much for me.

From the other hand, I can assure you that they have excellent quality, they are very bright (if not more, similar to OEMs), they operate flawlessly and they are a really good addition to a B6 (and not only).

Here are the photos. I am sorry about the car (how dirty it is), but I returned from a trip last night...

Edit: obviously not S6 grill LEDs but thought I'd share these for another option.

I have been interested in the S6 LED DRL for a long time.
I found a page in which you can find some photos about installing the S6 LED DRL.

If you guys think they are too bright/white when the lights are off, maybe try Nightshades:

Did you already order your lights? I am about to list a new in box set of S6 LED DRLS.
I ordered couple of days ago. But I assume that your are in US, while I am buying from Europe (cheaper for me).

If I can throw my two cents in... I wouldn't do the S6 LED swap.

When I had my B5, I thought long and hard about doing this mod, mostly because B5 OE fogs are hard as hens teeth to find in North America, and four years ago, no one had non-factory LEDs like this, so it woulda been cool.

Frankly, the LED thing is played out, IMO. And the OE S6 lights are stupid expensice for what you get. Since they're just DRLs and for visibility for on-coming traffic and produce no useable lumens to light the road in front of you, I don't see the point.

I put an ECS OE fog kit on my B6 waggie. Projectors FTW! I"m still running halogen bulbs in both my headlights and projector fogs and that's plenty of light and has that euro OE goodness look. I also live in the country, so having the projector fogs is a major plus.

Save the money for tires and maintenance.

Hi John. First of all, I never use my fog lights. They are rubbish! Never helped when driving in the fog. Second, I never use my fogs when there is no fog. It is illegal, it is bad for the on coming traffic and they never add more light to my OEM Bi-xenons... So for me, they are kind of worthless.

Except that, I use my LEDs only as DRLs and I don't use them in combination with my normal lights at night (I find it a bit rice to do so). So, I am not expecting my DRLs to help me during night driving. During the day, believe me that the LEDs are really standing out and you can see them from far away. All of my friends mention that, if they happen to be the on coming traffic...

The reason I change my current setup to the new one, is to have a more "stealth" look, and black-out some parts in the front of my car that I don't like. Another point, is that th LEDs that I have now, its a straigth part, so when you are looking the car from straight ahead, some of the LEDs can't be shown. The S6 LEDs are manufactured in such a way, that you can see all of them from the front of the car...

So stay tuned and we will see in a few days if it was finally worthed the cost or not.
