The noise pipe is designed to allow some turbo noise into the cabin. Yeah it's a cool idea but also loses throttle response, just a bit. Deleting this pipe allows for a little bit more throttle response, minimizing the wasted air. It really is a pointless tube, best to just get rid of it. It can also be used when doing a diverter valve relocation kit, but you really don't need to till you start modifying the car beyond stage 2+ because the OEM piston diverter valve can handle it throughout stage 2+

oh okay, i was confused that it made it louder. So all you need is the plug and then the part to cover the firewall? any links to such parts? Sorry for hijacking the thread.

for the plug, i got the 1 and a half inch size from home depot, couple bucks and painted it black. gotta dremel it down some to make it fit. ace hardware also sells them and other places. just find an expander plug that will fit in the hole. as for the firewall, u need the gasket and clip which ecstuning sells. part numbers are:

    1K0-971-866-A
(Firewall Gasket)
    1K0-971-865-A (Firewall Gasket Clip)

and the link for the DIY is:

    have fun!

today put on the stock cat and new muffler. passed inspection, CEL came on not long after (but i was lucky enough for it to come on after the inspection), caused because i have the cat and 02 spacer. tomorrow getting the stock cat removed again to retain my catless downpipe. then gotta get the muffler adjusted a little (gotta bring it in and up some). pics after the muffler shop tomorrow.

How did you adjust the muffler? My exhaust has a rattle and the installer attached mine crooked and I cant figure out what to loosen in order to straighten it out. I think one of my tips is knocking against the valence.
I changed my oil with diluted KY Jelly and I really like it. Drove it 3 miles no problem yet. Highly recommend it.

i had to take it back to the muffler shop and they bent the pipe back some to bring the muffler in, and put on a shorter hanger to bring it up

That test plug is going to pop off if you rev past a certain point... ask me how I know.

I would cap it the right way with something OEM or a rubber cap and T-clamp.

Mine hasn't went anywhere and it's been uncover for a year. You just have to make sure it's tight and not just snug... Btw, I drive my car pretty hard at times and it's APR stage 2+, no problems...

Well it's not a permanent solution, just trying to help. I've had 3 of them pop off and they were all tight and daily driven on until they popped off at high rpm's.

well i have it in there VERY tight. i left the rubber ring the same size as the pipe and wedged it in there, then tightened it all down by hand and then with pliers. very tight, but not enough to crack the plastic or anything. and then the paint was still not fully dried when i put it all in, so im sure that's helping it hold in as well. so far so good, still in there and i cant even budge it when i pull on it with all my stength.
