I have the 2012 sel and had hid's installed tuesday 11/1. Lets just say they dont work right and the passenger side flickers every now and then and the error code in the dash comes in and out fog lights work and now all of the sudden the passenger one doesnt work. They worked perfect the first day, my guy checked them yesterday, i left they were fine till i got back on the highway to head home and they started messing up again. Any thoughts, we tried relay's but when car would be turned on the relay would make a sound ad if a bad ground

It's simply nature's way of telling you to stop putting HID's in a housing meant for halogen bulbs, an act which does nothing but add a little bit of scattered visibility for you and a LOT of blindness for oncoming drivers
Do all of us a favor and wait until someone makes a retrofit kit or try to do a retrofit yourself- seems to be plenty of room to work in the Passat housings for an install

Plus, I am pretty sure it is illegal to put HIDs in housing not designed for them. I am sick and tired of all these crappy light mods that blind others.

Turn the headlights on let the bulb heat up before you turn on the car (10 seconds) and then turn on the ignition.

you need someone (or dealer) to code your car for HID's using VCDS (Vag-com)

Do we think the OEM wiring and non HID VAG will support 100w Hella - H71070307 ?

Where did you get the adapter for the HID bulb. in order the supply power to the ballast you will need to to have the filament with the proper + and - connectorshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCAb9xvVsyY or did you have the original adapter modified? and if so do you have pictures?

If you don't have a HID kit setup with the canbus and have vagcom coded they will throw codes and flicker. Get that taken care of and you will be fine.

get this HID kit...
I have it in my Passat and no problems at all.... NO coding required

looks like a legit kit, i'd recommend it.
i've also had great success from DDM tuning kits.
your issue with flickering sounds pretty simple, you either have a bad ballast, or you don't have the proper e-code eliminator or relay. without that relay, you will throw a low beam out code.
you don't need to do any coding in VCDS to get around this -- the HID coding would only apply to cars where HID is an option (Golf, etc) that have more advanced controls -- your just putting in a drop-in kit so those functions won't do anything. if you have a proper kit you shouldn't have any problems.
of course, its already been said, but i wouldn't put an HID in a non-projector housing.
