Thread: 1997 GTI VR6 Repair Manual

    1. 11-04-2011 08:52 PM #1
Can someone please help me? I need to replace the heater core in my 1997 VR6 before the chilly winter. I don't have a ton of $$ to purchase $100 manuals and really need some help to figure out how to replace this damn heater core.

Any tips or where I can find information/steps on how to do it, or any tips on replacing the core would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

      Help a guy out here

      Thanks!

I know a lot of shops say 8 hours for the job.. but I wonder if I keep searching around if some shop will do it for a few hours labour.. From what I hear if you've done the procedure a few times it can be done quickly.

This just really looks like a royal pain in the arse.

Any shop that is willing to do the work is going to charge you the book rate, regardless of how long it really takes them.

Afterall, that is why they printed the book.

So if you aren't willing to do the work yourself, BEND OVER and take it like a man.

You might be able to find someone on here in your area that has done the job and would
like to make some money. To me it did not seem all that bad to do.
