Yes...yes I do need a S2K....one day....
So I'm at my local Honda dealership last Sat and in the ~4 hrs I'm there (buying a new car), I'd guess that 3-4 different guys took serious looks at a used S2K on the lot. It went out on several test drives too, got tons of attention.
I asked my sales guy, who has been there 15+ yrs, "seems like that S2000 is getting a lot of attention" and he replies, "It's funny, we've had that used S2K in for less than a week and it's gotten more serious looks and phone calls than the last 2 new ones we had in the showroom that sat idle for over 6 months each, we couldn't give those cars away when they were new, now we'll sell used ones in record time".
Go figure...you never know what you have until it's gone.

Put on 17k miles since May feels like I'm beating up the car, but I did buy it to drive it every day.

Tha'ts ****ing awesome. A little crazy but hell why not life's too short to care what other people think... Personally, when its below 50 or so the top is up, I'm a big wuss I guess. On top of that when top down in the S2000 my head is sticking out of the car a bit so my melon gets cold.
is there a consensus on where the bottom is for the s2000? I assume these cars will bottom out around 7k, then climb until they're no longer affordable.. I missed the days of $10k NSXs, and I don't want to miss the S2000 having learned my lesson.

I've been toying with the idea of picking up an AP1 when I visit the inlaws in Florida in March. I'd rather get a clean, salt free car considering I'll plan on keeping the thing forever. That, and because they are more common down there the prices seem to be about $1K less than up in CT.
I'm less interested in a pristine example, and more interested in a decent runner as a weekend toy. Looks like I should start saving again... not sure how the wife will feel about me having two new-ish cars to her still running '96 college car.

Oh and if you want white, be prepared to pay top dollar for it. For some reason white is in high demand.

I mean in 2 - 5 years from now. I think the bottom hasn't hit yet, and most reasonably clean AP1's with lowish mileage go for $11K - 15K right now. I'm thinking the prices will still drop just a bit from where they are at now.
There are tons of variables, it's just an educated guess. Someone may get lucky and steal one from someone in financial distress, who knows..
The way they are holding up over the years and miles, and how well it is obviously built, I wouldn't bet on prices going too much further from where they are now. I read on S2ki.com the other day that someone hit 300,000 miles in his AP1, pretty cool if you ask me for a sports car with little or no maintenance out of normal scheduled wear and tear.
I respectfully, but strongly disagree with your opinion. I can't stand hardtops on these cars and Miatas! Thats just me haha. I'm ready to be attacked by everyone now since I know most people prefer hardtops.
