Does anyone know of any model/years of Golf, GTI, etc. hatch spoilers that also fit the JSW? I've searched around and found some speculation but someone must have tried it by now. Reason I'm asking is I'd like to get a more aggressive hatch spoiler and want to know if other VW models will interchange, therefore expanding my choices and availability. Thanks for your help.

Votex or Mk5 GTI, or pretty much anything for a Mk5 Golf

is this actually confirmed? I know the various mk5 spoilers are different in design, but I haven't seen if the sportwagen hatch itself is the same as the other mk5 hatches.

I don't know of anyone that's tried it personally, but according to my dealer's parts counter guy...

i assume this means that golf MKVI front lips other then the Votex should fit our Wagons s well?
everyone's getting the vote so i'd want to get somethng else.. i wonder if the ebay front lips are any good..?

i dont think the side skirts fron an MKVI would fit though? i think we are longer wheel base?

this thread is only about the hatch spoiler.

the sportwagen is a mk5.. so any mk5 sideskirt will technically fit, length wise. You would probably need a skirt that is meant for a four door car though, since many of the two door side skirts would cover the rear body line of the rear doors.

I'm not sure about the front lip.. but I think the sportwagen frontend is different enough that you'd have to install a gti front bumper to use a lip meant for the mk6 gti.

    what you are saying is:
    - hatch spoiler will fit wagons from any GTI or regular Golf ?
    - Side skirts from a 4 door golf will fit our wagons? both cars are same in length?
    - front lip wont? the front end on the Golf(jetta) wagon looks the same as a regular golf. both have circular fogs, same headlights etc.

the only thing I said for sure is that the side skirts will fit. The car lengths are different.. but the wheel base and side areas are the same.

hatch spoilers.. I'm skeptical that anyone knows for sure if another mk5 or mk6 hatch spoiler will fit. I'd love it if someone tried though.

I own an '09, so I don't know enough about the mk6 frontends the 2010 & later cars got. I do know that the frontends are not completely the same.. so I don't know if the front lip from a gti or other mk6 will fit directly onto the stock sportwagen mk6 styled frontend.

There are differences in the Mk6 front end on the JSW and the regular Golf. Lips for a regular Golf will fit. Replacement bumpers won't line up perfectly, but they can be installed. GTI lips will not fit a standard Mk6 front end.

Is the Votex spoiler just for looks or will it help reduce the amount of dust clinging to the rear window on gravel roads? The stock spoiler does nothing. Any other spoilers that would help with this problem?

    Thanks!

Not really. I have the factory Votex spoiler and it's just as bad as the stock one. The dirt is just something you have to get used to on hatchbacks.

Well, not sure. The spoiler seems to do a pretty good job of collecting condensation a dribbling it down the rear glass when you take off in the morning. Still looks great though, IMHO.

What do you guys think of this spoiler? Has anyone figured out yet if Golf/GTI spoilers will fit the JSW.

No, they're aftermarket LED tails which I had my body shop smoke for me.

I also had the reflectors done to match.

Just got an e mail from OSIR design stating that the manufacturers haven't tried to fit it on a JSW and they don't think it will. I would love to see more Spoiler options out there for our cars.

Curious as to how a JSW would look without its rear spoiler but not curious enough to go out and remove mine for a peek. Anyone done it?
It would seem that for a rear spoiler to help keep the rear glass of a hatchback or wagon a bit cleaner wouldn't a roof line spoiler need to generate positive pressure across the glass and not negative pressure? Is there any real world benefit in having a roof extending rear spoiler on a hatch or wagon other than cosmetics or a convenient place to bury the center mounted brake light? We all pretty much agree that these spoilers don't seem to do much in the way of keeping the back window clean so why even bother?

I was wondering that, but from my poking around, the spoiler is part of the hatch..unless someone else can say otherwise...

It's definitely part of the hatch. It's not welded on, it's pressed sheet metal and is a contiguous part of the hatch. Unless the sheet metal is cut off or shaved, anything added here is going on top of the original profile.

Here's some bent metal on the hatch that accompanied the removal of my TDI's third eye brake light, which is a major PITA.
