Yeah the guy I found has done a great job, anyone in the NoVa area hit me up for his contact info. His name is Richard Lucas for any of you locals. Anyways, yeah the whole car is mostly painted now. Just needs small things like wet sanding and buffing. Unfortunatly one of the main reasons the car isn't farther along then what it is now is that I was getting the runaround from another painter for months.

Do you have a instagram with the progress pics

dont know how i missed this so far. good work! this car should be bas a$$.![]()
where did you obtain that rollcage hoop? i wanted to build one in my car and can fabricate the rest but the hoop would be nice to buy pre-made.

Lookin sick! Great inspiration! Im really trying to find a 1988 GTI with no luck, but when i do i will come to this threat for motivation![]()

thanks man. i got the cage from http://www.swracecars.com. it all fit pretty well, had to do a little trimming here and there but for the most part it was good. I dont know if they will sell you just the main hoop though. you could always give them a call and ask though. the hoop fit great
just keep looking man. it takes a bit of work to find the car you really want. but worth it in the end.

Sorry guys. Plenty of updates. Just haven't really remembered to post on here. As some of you know I really wanted this to be done for H2o, but that obviously didn't happen so my new goal is imports vs domestics at the beginning if next month. Most of the wiring is done minus a few things like the coil packs, lights, gauges, and switches. Today I mocked up/mounted the IC, Rad, and some of the IC piping.
The interior is a bit more along and tidy'd up then in this picture. The picture is a few days old.

this build is coming along nicely. looking for inspiration to get my coupe running again. unfortunatly i don't have a big wood build budget. i'm looking at doing a rebuilt 8v on 40mm dellorto's. have all the major bits, just need to get the block work done and rip out the old 2L 16v.
keep up the progress man!!

Just finished up making the other seat bracket/slider.
Thank god I have a garage to keep it out of this hurricane.

Looking sweet! What did you spend on the paint job? Did you do all the prep?

My brake setup:
Zimmerman cross drilled rotors all around with Hawk HPS pads, SS ECS tuning brake lines, MK4 aluminum calipers, all powdercoated to color match the car.
