so im going to be very brief with the update. as the last one i wrote up... took AGES. but vortex had timed out and signed me out so i lost everything i wrote.

it may be confusing abit as i'll be copy and pasting from my ukmkivs thread. Here goes...

    ================================================== ==========

    Feb 24th -

so anyways, i got word on wednesday that my shipment of stuff had arrived at heathrow. after weeks of issues with shipping (mainly costs/taxing) i was glad they got here in good order

so now i have all the exterior genuine gli parts for the car (bar the headlights)

i have to start with the saving for the respray now

i've finally got word from bagyard. Bagyard have finally given me tracking code for the suspension, which is good news. but for the first two days it wouldnt work. and now that it does, it says its still in austria lol

and the wierd thing is, the package is 3.18kg??!?!

    March 9th -

    so as of last night
for some reason, my bagyards arent being delivered any more!

BagYard... Get your **** together!! by :hMd:, on Flickr

no one knows why they happened been shipped across, they went from austria and they're 'not out to delivery' anymore

i've emailed Andrew @ ORT about it and he replied with in a few hours (it was probably early hours in the morning in the states at the time)

    Hello Sir,
That is REALLY strange and I've forwarded your inquiry onto BagYard. Honestly, I'm starting to think it's time for me to involve legal action with them as they've not given me any firm details on my shipments. Whilst you have a tracking number, it's not the right number or the right package weight. I'm trying to be completely transparent here with what I'm doing as that's how I do business and I'm not one to hide any details from my customers. I will work at getting in touch with them today and see what they can give me with regard to another number or a correct number.

believe me, this is why I'm growing sick of doing business with them. They make great products but the communication (or lack there of) is something I cannot deal with on my end. I've been through the ringer with them so many damn times and been on the forefront of threats, bashing, harassment, etc. (not referring to you) and it just will not stand anymore. I've covered their rear more times than I can count and people think it's me who is holding up the works or not doing my job. I've paid them in full for everything and I have bank statements that show I've paid the money. To me it's really silly that a company can make such great products but yet have no idea how to get them out quickly or how to even treat their dealers with respect. I am truly at a loss for words and believe me, I apologize ten fold for this mess, but that won't do any good. I'm going to work my butt off today to get in touch with them even if it means calling them every twenty minutes...
    March 10th -

i dont know what bagyard are doing atm, waitin on hearing back from Andrew.

i keep thinking about going with aiflift tbh, BUT i knowing my luck the minute i cancel my order for bagyards, everyone else thats waiting for will receive theirs!

anyways, whilst waiting, Nick and i took the wheels and tyres over to his old workplace in Leyton (B1 Tyres) and nick mounted the tyres for me. Solid work again Nicky boy

and yup, i get to keep the wheels in the kitchen lol

    March 12th -

so it would seem the bums at bagyard sent me the wrong tracking number in the first place.
the parcel i have been tracking all this time was picked up by Ricardo Somethingmajig in Italy

So im back to the beginning, i dont know where my order is or when im getting it. i've only waited since November 1st 2011

    March 16th -

got an email last night from Andrew at ORT

i have replied this morning asking about mine as mine is meant to come direct from austria

    Ladies & Gents,
As we turn the corner into the middle of March, we are still without a BagYard pallet. Show season is rapidly approaching and we're all in a crunch to get our cars finished and on the ground (including us). It's quite devastating that the pallet has not yet showed up and that we have not been given any sort of tracking or trace information on the shipment. Every time that we run a group buy, BagYard promises to deliver faster and shorten the infamous 'wait', yet it never seems to happen. We spoke to BagYard on Tuesday morning and they assured us that the pallet was indeed shipped. When we inquired about when exactly it was shipped they said Tuesday. Now, that could mean any number of things as there are 52 Tuesdays in a year. We can only assume that it was not this past Tuesday but the prior Tuesday. If that is indeed the case, it should take no more than a 1-1.5 weeks until we have word on the pallet touching down here in the States.

Because we believe in transparency in what we do, here is the process for importing a large shipment of goods into the US via pallet freight.

    • Shipping company is contacted for freight pick up.
    • Shipment is picked up by shipping company
    • Shipment is trucked to shipping hub (typically the largest airport in proximity)
    • Shipment is loaded onto a plane
-- there are multiple types of air freight but in order to save ourselves and our customers money, we do not choose a 'first' shipment. The 'first' shipment implies that the cargo is loaded into pretty much any plane regardless of how full it is. We choose a 'second' shipment, which means that the cargo is loaded onto a plane which has room for our shipment. Sometimes shipments wait at the loading location for 2-3 days before they're put on a plane as the shipping company is waiting for an open spot on the plane. If we chose a 'first' shipment, it would cost about $1000 extra.
    • Shipment arrives in the States, typically at one of New York's larger airports.
    • ORT is contacted by Customs/ICS to produce the necessary paperwork on the pallet (parts list, value, end destination, etc)
    • ORT pays necessary Customs/ICS fees to clear customs.
    • Shipment is loaded onto a truck and then trucked to our location.

In most cases, the shipment will sit in customs for 24-48hrs before it is then released. We have to sign a number of documents and legal paperwork which states the shipment does not contain anything harmful, any contraband, etc. Regardless, the shipment will sit on average for 24-48hrs -- this is normal and cannot be avoided.

Delving deeper into the comment made by BagYard that it was 'picked up on Tuesday' it's safe to assume that the shipping company will not ship it the day they pick it up, that's a rarity in all scenarios.

While we don't really like to speculate on what is going on because speculation is pretty much on par with assumption these days. Our best guess is as follows..

March 6th, pallet was picked up by shipping company.
March 7th, pallet was trucked to Vienna, Munich Or Frankfurt.
March 8th-12th, pallet was awaiting open slot for shipping.
-- We did find out that BagYard had to change their EORI number which is the equivalent to their EIN/Tax ID Number for outbound shipments. This set the pallet back a day.
March 13th, pallet was loaded and shipped from Europe.
March 14th-16th, pallet is in transit from Europe to the States. Depending on the shipping company, airline, etc. the plane may have stopped in another location.

Now, we're here at March 15th. We've contacted the necessary Customs/ICS parties on our end to let them know that we're expecting a pallet in from Europe. Typically we hear from them the day it lands or even the day before it lands as they're forwarded all the paperwork from the shipping company.

We've been hounding BagYard nearly every day for further information on the shipment. Whether it be flight data, paperwork, whatever... We've not yet had any response to this and we've just been told time and time again, that the pallet has been shipped. We have noticed that BagYard does respond to people posting on their Facebook page and they are actually getting a decent response.

In light of everything that has transpired with this group buy, we are offering our customers the ability to switch to AirLift struts & bags and/or D-Cups + Rear bags. While it saddens us that BagYard has dropped the ball yet again, we're not going to let that get us down and more importantly, get our customers down. We are a diverse company and growing every single day. We're more than happy to accommodate our customers needs in any way possible. We have plenty of AirLift parts in stock and at the ready. Please let us know if you would like to make the switch and we would be happy to help you make this happen. We refuse to let our customers be the victim of another BagYard fiasco, that's simply not going to happen again.

If there's anything we can do for you, don't hesitate to give us a call or shoot us an email. We look forward to seeing everyone at this years shows!

    Best Regards,

    OPEN ROAD TUNING

its not such a secret cos its super duper special mix and blend, i just would be gutted if someone else decided to do it after i threw it out there. im quite a boring guy as you know, and i like boring colours

    March 31st -

i am/was happy they all arrived finally

but only to be let down by the fact that they didnt build them WITH the ARB mount like i had asked.

    shouldve been like this:

BagYard Supremes by :hMd:, on Flickr

im pretty pissed off about it to say the least. and they're asking me to send my struts back to them. if i do do that, theres no guarantee when i'll be getting it back.

so for the time being im going to be have it fitted with no arb until someone fabs up a arb mount

i also picked up a steel sump gaurd. it may not be wise for those trying to lay fram and all that, but if it gets in the way, i'll just sell it on, so im not too fussed

    April 2nd -

I sent this to Andrew @ ORT yesterday

    Hi Andrew

It saddens me to be writing to you once again. As you know I have now received my Bagyard supreme kit. Since receiving it, I emailed you (27th March) expressing that even after specifically requesting that my kit should come with the sway bar mount (see my PM on vortex sent on the 2nd Nov 2011), it still came with NO sway bar mount. This was very VERY annoying as one of the many reasons why I chose bagyard over going with its competitors is that they come with sway bar mounts. Had I not wanted a sway bar mount, I would have opted for the Airlift XL’s, which I would have received within a couple of weeks I presume.

I can understand that you being over in America and the manufacturers being in Europe, there can be difficulties, one of which is delayed shipment. But after waiting from end of group buy date (Nov 15th 2011) nearly 19 weeks and a total of 21 weeks from the date I paid you in FULL, I would have thought a customer would be shown a bit more empathy, or some sort of compensation for not receiving a kit as requested even after waiting that long.

“Fine” I said to myself. “I received the Bagyards with no sway bar mount but I’m at least glad they are finally here” I decided against sending them back as there would be zero guarantees that I would have it back anytime soon, I could end up waiting a few more months for it back with the sway bar mount fitted. I decided to drop the car off to have the kit finally fitted.

However, it appears that Bagyard sent me a FWD kit instead of an AWD like I paid for.

I am absolutely FUMING at this. Not only did they have me wait an unknown amount of time for the shipping details, they sent me the wrong tracking number and have me chase somebody else’s package for days. They then did not fulfil the specifics of my order. They didn’t even send me the correct suspension platform AT ALL. I have waited over four months for absolutely ZERO result. How can someone get it SO wrong?? I do not know who is at fault here, be it ORT or BY. But the one thing I DO know is that I (the paying customer) have done nothing wrong.

As a customer I am expected to PAY money upfront (which I did and did promptly) and with no issues whatsoever from my side. Once items and service is paid for, the customer expects to receive the product and the customer service he is due for giving the company business. NEITHER of which I have received. The product I received is wrong and I get it four months late and will have to wait a further UNSPECIFIED time in order to receive the correct item. Like I said previously I do not know or really care anymore who is to blame here, but I have kept my end of the transaction and I am dealing with ORT and not BY. By this I expect ORT to bend over backwards in order to rectify this colossal mistake. If I went in to Wal-Mart and was unhappy something I purchased at their store, Wal-Mart with respect and honour their customer by compensating them in some way, even if it’s an item they do not produce themselves.

When I first contacted you showing my interest in the Bagyard group buy I questioned when I would receive the item at the LATEST possible time. You said that it’d be with me no later than the 1st of January. Since then I received excuse after excuse, which may or may not have been true as there is no way of me checking it. “Relocating”, “haven’t heard from them”, “they’re on vacation”, “apparently on the pallet”, “supposedly being shipped”, “don’t know where they are”, “should’ve been shipped” etc etc. Being a customer of ORT, I expect ORT to do more than that to reassure their customers. Emailing them and calling is only first thing you should be doing, but nothing stops you from flying out to Bagyard and finding out what is happening with an order you paid for many months ago, if that’s what you have to do. Your business depends on it.

I have kept my patience and gave everyone (but myself) the benefit of the doubt and chances. But I am now at loss. I would like ORT to get in touch with Bagyard and have them send over the CORRECT kit like I have always been asking for from the beginning. You will see that my order did not change in any way from the first time I asked for it, saving you any headache whatsoever. If Bagyard are able to send a complete kit from off the shelf within the week or so, I will return the FWD kit back once I receive mine. If it speeds things up, I am willing, not happy, but willing to travel the 850 miles to Austria to retrieve my paid items. It is currently the Easter holidays at the moment and I would like to get the complete kit before the holiday is over and we are all back to work.

PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THIS EMAIL WITH A TIMELY RESPONSE, as if I don’t hear from you it will only inflame the situation.
    Thank you

    Hamidi

so to get back up to date, as you may remember, i sent ORT and email about the trials and tribulations of dealing with them/bagyard

i waited a couple of days for a reply and seeing none Dele got in touch with a mate of ours in the States and had him call up Andrew@ORT to reply to my email. to which i got this very 'detailed' reply:

[quote]Spoke to Pat this morning, it's pretty incredible that BagYard is pulling a stunt like this.
I'll get with them ASAP and get it sorted out for you.
    Cheers,
    Andrew
    [quote]

i was expecting a better reply tbh! he made it sound like he didnt even read my last email!i replied to him asking for bagyards personal details so i can try contact them myself, even if they dont really speak well english

i waited a few more days and heard nothing from Andrew. i decided to go on vortex to see if he was online and active, seeing as he was, i resent my last email
    his reply:

    Muhammad,
In the last few days, communication with BagYard has improved, but not by much. Since our pallet is finally about to land, I think we're going to see faster responses but it's still too early to tell. However, I've not yet received a response to the question and have resent it this afternoon with hopes for a response tomorrow. I've tried calling them as well as two emails.

    Their contact information is:

    info@bagyardairride.com

    +43463206024

pulling my remaining hair out atm. i've got about £6000 invested in this project so far (not including car!!!) and how much of that do you see on the car? zero.

    its really frustrating this is.

but as of a fortnight ago, we had some good news from my bro; he's getting married on the 8th of May. i decided i need to make do with what i have. i've called in practically all favours from everywhere and going ahead with the respray next week. im VERY tight in budget with the bros wedding and i have soo much money in parts and gear for the bora just lying around

a savior in the form of NickTurbo was breaking my old Golf (advert HERE) so i took the opportunity to take back the air ride that was on it. im waiting to buy two rear bags so that i can use it on a 4mo setup. This will do for now while i wait for Fagyard to pull their finger out.

so for the first time in a long time, i feel like theres work proper happening on the car

the deadline for everything is HOPEFULLY the weekend before 8th May in time for my Brothers wedding.

by which time im hoping for:

rayvern two way air ride on

    accuair elevel on

    full GLI kit on

full respray in trdblcwiagchf wjvkn colour

    carlines on

and if i can afford it, a new custom exhaust to match the gli rear lip

i never ask for much eh? haha

theres plenty of room for error but im hoping everything goes smoothly here on out.

car will be going to olly tonight/tomorrow night to have the engine removed, wings welded, bonnet notch smoothed and UK number plate recess welded to the GLI bootlid. it'll them be trailered back to east london to my friends body shop next week early-ish.

big shout out to all at KS Autos, on bancroft road, for most of my work on the old Golf. They'll be closing up shop next month for good but they decided to do the job at a very very competitive price, one that i cant refuse right at the end. i've used them for all my paint jobs on the old golf and they have never let me down over the last 4 years. everytime i DIDNT use them, the job came out crap lol

So, shake and bake baby. it looks like my first outing with the bora in its new guise MIGHT be DC12, June 10th

    hope nothing screws up

in other news, the ongoing saga with Open Road Tuning and Bagyard continues
i didnt hear anything from Andrew@ORT for over two weeks, so i shot another email asking for an update. This is what i got last night

    Muhammad,
I've finally gotten word back from BagYard and they've told me the following:

'Because this kit was part of the fall sale, the sway bar mounts are not included in the price'.

OK, this problem gets deeper and more complicated every time I talk to them... They're claiming that because your kit was part of a special production run of struts during a certain period of time, the mounts are not included. This is utter horse crap, flat out. I've been working with them for five years and there has not been a single instance where these mounts were NOT included in the price. This is such horse crap, I'm fuming mad. It is simply an excuse on their end because they screwed up and they don't want to take the blame for their own mistake. The kit was ordered properly on my end with the ARB/Sway bracket, this is something that I include on all European bound orders because of your MOT/TUV/DOT system. This load of rubbish came through to me this morning from Eddy's mom -- she runs the business/office/book keeping. My response every time she has written me back has been something to the tune of:

"This is not right and I don't want an excuse, I want it fixed. How do we get it fixed? This is not helping your reputation in the community"

She has yet to respond to my most recent email which asks (once again) how we can get this issue taken care of immediately. It's taken me the better part of two weeks just to get someone to respond to me! I'm sorry this has been dragging on, it's not OK -- at all.

Hopefully I will hear back from her tomorrow.

    Cheers,
    Andrew
you will quickly notice that not one word was mentioned about being sent a 4wd kit like i was meant to rather than the 2wd i received. i replied back within a minute or two of receiving that ^ email asking for the situation on getting a 4wd kit and im waiting on a response.

    May 12th -

    i'm back
with no good news as always

The plan i had set was to have everything sorted by the weekend before my brothers wedding. i thought what better time to officially unveil my car than at a massive family do. on top of that, my brother wanted me to drive him to his wedding and back! i was obviously over the moon with it and honored at such a request.

but unfortunately things didn't go so well and planned.

very briefly, here's how it went (deadline was set at 8th of May):

17th April - Car handed to olly to remove engine, weld over wing indicators, smooth bonnet and fit the UK plate recess to the US GLI bootlid. Windscreen and rear glass to be removed too.

24th April - car arrived from olly to my local bodyshop with all work above complete and body shop begin stripping the car and panels down

This full respray was supposed to be the last job that the Body shop was supposed to do. It belonged to a friend of mine and after my car was complete, he was closing up shop for good. a few days went with no work done to the car as the bodyshop still had a few other cars outstanding work to be done so they got on trying to get them out of the way before carrying on with mine.

2nd May - the car was completely stripped down and ready for paint the next day

    3rd May - Paint began

4th May - Car was 85% back together and ready to be towed back to olly an hour away for the air, engine and both windscreens to go back in

5th May - Olly fitted the complete front end, engine, loom, lines etc etc

We are still on schedule (tight, but still possible)

6th May - This is when the headache began. As you may know, i paid for some Bagyard Supremes back in October 2011 and i am STILL yet to receive my set. Bagyard about 5/6 weeks back sent me a bagyard kit, but it was the wrong one. i was sent a front wheel drive kit where i needed a 4wd kit. BUT seeing as i had waited for nearly 6 months for my kit and i hadn't received a reply to why i was sent a 2wd kit instead of what i had paid for, we decided to go ahead and fit the front bagyard kit in and for temporary measure, i purchased some rayvern rear bags for a 4motion

this was supposed to be then of it until i received my proper kit from bagyard.

but the day was Sunday, the Monday was a bank holiday and Tuesday was the wedding. and rayvern had sent me rear bags that wouldn't fit the bora. Ray had sent me just bags and to make it fit, it'd need some sort of mounting that allows it to seat it self in the mounting place. this we didn't know till the Sunday. truth be told, we could've found that out on Friday evening when i received the package from ray, but even then we wouldn't have been able to get anything in its place. Its hard to get hold of Ray in the first place let alone get him to send something out on a Friday evenings for Saturday delivery.

olly did what he could to see if it would work. but in the end, it kinda wasn't meant to be.

I ended up having to hire a car for the wedding. it was a Mercedes S-Class 350 LWB

9th May - Day after the wedding. i decided after consulting olly and the herd that i'd go for Airlift rear bags and sell the rear bagyard supremes separately (for sale ad here). i got onto emailing plush and bagriders to see who could supply fastest. Luke got back to me with Wednesday, bagriders got back to me with Monday. i opted for plush as i the price difference was about £50 more than bagriders but i wouldn't be hit with customs.

    this brings me to yesterday
Friday 11th May - i paid for the Airlift rear r32 kit by 1.30pm. Luke reply's almost instantly confirming he received the money and is processing the order for Wednesday delivery.

and guess who emails me later that night?
Andrew@ ORT offering me the same Airlift Rear Bags kit that i bought a few hours ago in exchange for the bagyard rear kit .

So, i find this guy in the morning park next to mine the morning after i collected my car back. Almost as a gentle reminder of what my bora was looking like only a couple of weeks ago

So yesterday i decided to to send my Carline CM6s to have them refurbished. But before i did, i just had to try them on first to see what they came out like.

I'm happy with the way it came out. In an ideal world, I'd want it sitting slightly better, maybe a little bit less this and more of that, but it turned out good the way it did first time
