performanceled's has some coming in, I paid for a set. We leave on Wednesday April 18th for WITW. The latest I would put my car in the shop would be April 16th. If PerformanceLED's can get the mounts by APRIL 11th I could overnight the bushings here.

Will PerformanceLED's receive their share of bushings by April 11th? That's 6 days, is it even possible? Six days product in hand?

Any how....having these parts for WITW would be awesome. I may have to order the OEM stuff tomorrow just in case. OEM equipment on stand by and I'll book an appointment for April 16th at the shop. That'll give the UM mounts till APRIL 16th to arrive. Starting to stress a little , hope I get them for this driving event.

Just took the car out yesterday for the first time after some winter projects.

Idk if it's the subframe bushings or the strut mounts but the front end feels amazing!! It feels so good it'll stop making you care about what it is made from.. haha

Is there any particular reason why the UM mounts are about 1 cm shorter than OEM ? Just wondered..

You mean when you compare the overall length before fitting to a car?

although the UM mount looks shorter it actually sits a little higher then the OEM. Not much but I thought it would be lower. It simply does NOT compress like that OEM rubber. Plus, I replaced old compressed rubber so it lifted the car almost a half inch. Not sure how much it will settle but it looks good and should last twice as long.

Exact same as me, put brand new ones in the weekend before, drove about 1,500 miles total for the trip, they are already clunking and slopping about. Luckily I have a set of UM mounts in the garage ready to go in.

Yup and thats why these things are the best thing made for our cars in a long while. Beats changing strut mounts almost as often as your oil. haha

They do leave little room to compress so you need to adjust your ride height accordingly.

We tried to get our mounts so that the car sits as close to the same height OE mount.

How much higher does your car sit?

close to a HALF inch but we talking old smashed OEM bushings vs the NEW UM bushings. Plus I added the defcon #2 setup. I think they are fine the way you cut um. I could use some new nuts for the bushings.

I have the coilover, then the bearing, then the UM mount, then the OEM bushing nut.....where do I get a new bushing nut?? Then the car sits on the bushing, then the top hat goes on, then the bilstein nut goes on TOP of all that....on TOP of the top hat. New strut nuts and bearing nuts would be awesome. Where do I buy them? The OEM ones are damaging the strut's threads.

Swapped the UM mounts in this weekend, no worries about impact harshness especially if you are coming from busted OE mounts. These are like butter, they feel even better than brand new OE mounts, the top hats also sit much flusher to the body than with the OE mounts which is an improvement aesthetically as well. I did not notice a change in ride height. Overall a big and thanks to Performanceleds for making them easy to order in the US.

phew (if there was emoticon of a face with beads of sweat dripping I'd put one here), this was the longest product/order search I've ever encountered. All I wanted to do is to find out where can I get better than stock strut mounts.
First for the past 2-3 hours I went through loads of threads and post discussing materials, hardness, availability etc...on this thread and others to finally get to the post of:

I do tend to over-research though so that plays a part in it too.
I don't know what is it about this part, usually when I look for a replacement part that's better than OEM I can do that in a short time on this forum and figure out a majority consensus about quality, longevity, where to order etc.
Anyway, to UM: thanks for making it (you definitely could have made it easy/easier to order and get more/better info)
To vwsteve: thanks for putting a link in there.
I just ordered one myself, hoping for the best with how long will this one last over OEM.

    Cheers

I put these is a while ago, and I'm quite happy with them.

There is a little more road noise on rough highway sections, and hitting expansion gaps is louder. On the other hand I went from Koni FSDs on Euro Springs to HPA SHS coilovers when I put these on, so it's hard to tell how much is the mounts and how much is from stiffer suspension.

X2. Finally installed last week along with new control arm bushings and i am very pleased. Tophat gap was getting insane on mine and its completely gone now .... ride height is right. Drives MUCH better (partially due to new control arm bushings as well) but steering is firmer and more predictable, feels tighter over varied or rough surfaces. Again, prior to this install steering my car on uneven pavement was a fight trying to keep it straight - the car would track and adjust on its own and was getting to the point of unacceptible...lol.

The clunks are gone, HOWEVER now i'm getting a lot of creaking on any kind of incline/decline/ramps/ even small hills. I think my struts are blown at 65k miles and its time for coilovers. is that normal considering the Northeast crap roads its been through?

Or any other suggestions on what the creaks are?? it almost sounds like a deep squeege sound, similar to what skateboard trucks sound like when you put hard pressure to turn... if anyone knows what i mean.

Another X2. You hit it right on with the expansion gaps or any kinda raised/depressed line in the road you hear it a little more, but i personally LIKE that...i think its the sound of the force stopping at the mount where it should, because it honestly feels a lot better and firmer. i'm running original suspension (on its last legs, lol) and although the car feels a lot better it still has the minor creakage it had coming from the rear only the creaking in front has been magnified A LOT which makes me believe this is putting more stress on the front 2 struts that may be dead to begin with, whereas the old sloppy mounts would act as "extra strut". I dunno. Any advice is appreciated... i know everyone's gonna say go coils but i have tons of other stuff i'd rather spend $1,500 on right now.

Bushings just came in with a spearmint flavored gum stuck on the inside cardboard flap.
They look solid, wonder what material they're made off?...just kidding.
Can't wait to put them on, hopefully this weekend.

Mine rides on FK silverline coils and creaking from the rear sounds like an old boat.
